I didn't catch the direct thing yesterday, then saw people excitedly posting about it and my brain immediately placed it in the mental fodder bin.

I might have some big words to say on Monday, though, as it's starting to feel more like an insult.

I've ranted about this a lot, but Nintendo had a clear pathway to making a Game Boy remake. It naturally now doesn't want you to own any of its classic libraries, hence the online stuff, but it feels like a middle finger when they then release stuff like this.

Look, Game Boy nonsense is my jam, but this just feels like the wrong kind of novelty nonsense. It's cute, sure, but is it really different from a lot of the retro stocking fillers you get in super markets?

I've sort of come full circle, partly because big sites used to have a weird aversion to retro as a subject. That has clearly changed, and I'm now admittedly using the limited autonomy I have to get the good stuff to the right people.

I can't express how much I appreciate all the kind words about my retro nonsense. I've promised myself I'll keep doing it in any form I can.

I'll be contrary and argue they're not rail shooters, but 3D shmups.

If you take Star Fox and make it 2D, it'd be a traditional vertical shooter. Basically, if you can move around and are not stuck on a "rail" like in most lightgun games, it's a shmup. That's my two cents.

Okay, here's those promised ramblings on how I'm using the Switch GameCube controller with the actual console. I basically got tired of waiting for an 8Bitdo Retro Reciever update and decided to use the open source Blueretro dongle instead.

Missing RGB signal assuming you're using component/BNC inputs. In that instance it's a damaged cable. Otherwise, it's an internal fault if you're just using composite.

There's a lot to be said about people having no regard for other people's stress levels. I like to think I'm always thinking about whether something I do will stress someone out, but it's rarely reciprocated.
