Nancy by Ernie Bushmiller.

First panel, Nancy talking to a logger sawing a tree and pointing to a carved piece of trunk.

Nancy: Can I have that piece? My boy friend carved it.
Logger: Sure.

Second panel, Nancy is watching the log burn in the fire place.
Nancy: I'm mad at him.

Every once in awhile I think about this Nancy comic and it makes me laugh every single time. Absolute perfection.

That hopeless feeling flattens you, but my young one and I met a woman in ~mid-70s out for a walk (our dogs were socialising) and she’s entered an activist phase of her life. She got in to Croke Park yesterday. β€œI have time and I have nothing to lose”.
It’s something.

in case anyone ever needed confirmation that it's not about building a democratic Iran, it's about collapsing Iran and turning it into a land of rubble that can be bombed every six months

Looking at the stack of uneaten crisps from Christmas in the window of our neighbour’s house. Just sitting there. Not diminishing.
Sick, sick people.

Same, and no matter how many times I look up the actual meaning it will not stick on a brain cell for me. (See also the meaning of synecdoche. Just looked it up again, and it’s gone already)
