I gave the game a shot and it looks really cool! My one main complaint is about the jumpscares which feel out of place with it and fitting a more traditional horror experience compared to something thats aiming for cozy-creepy

Steam Next Fest Demos You Should Try
Hey folks,
I wrote some more about Steam Next Fest demos I tried because while only 10 made the list on TechRaptor I played a lot of them and others deserve some moments to shine too.

ADOM (Ancient Domains of Mystery) a classicish roguelite that I've poured time into at times over decades. Steam has it over 500 hours... and I had put much longer long before it was on Steam.

I guarantee you that the most powerful microscope in existence could not fathom a small enough fuck that I could give.
Fuck Generative AI. π

One thing that this left me feeling a bit odd about is Ghost Story, which seemed to be his first attempt at a more reflective story but I feel didn't manage to hit the highs of Twelve Months in exploring ideas.

It was an interesting read and very different then the series generally is. It was very introspective and reflective on grief and life. The change from a crazy weekend type length to a whole year was explored and taken advantage of fully I felt.
We do have a Novella coming this spring though!

And for those who remember, that does indeed that a lawyer named Mal Reynolds works for Games Workshop and doing DMCA claims.
Which is just hilarious to me, given Firefly and everything.

A conclusion to the Void War saga, as the game has returned to Steam today following Games Workshop's DMCA on it.

Ya, it's a bit of an open question but at this point its in their name and they've not replied to anyone.
It would be pretty funny if they have a lawyer named Mal Reynolds though.

Personally, I find it interesting to see play patterns like that and that a game designed for 100hours+ didn't latch on there. I do think in the case of a remaster like this, there's a question of nostalgia, it not matching and other factors as well that also factor in

My issue with respecting Sean Payton is that he oversaw bounty gate where he was either incredibly negligent or actively okayed paying to intentionally hurt people.
This is a good chance for the Texans and if a Texas defender accidentally hits Sean during the game thats fine too

AIβs Memorization Crisis
Large language models donβt βlearnββthey copy. And that could change everything for the tech industry.
GenAI companies keep claiming the books and copyrighted works their programed were "trained" on without permission didn't retain complete copies in their systems. This was a lie.
These companies may now face for even more liability for violating copyrights. 1/

Report: Data from Steam Next Fest Shows How Generative AI is Used in Games | TechRaptor
How are developers using AI? We gathered data from the most recent Steam Next Fest for an in-depth look at just where generative AI is used in development.
Additionally, if you have questions about what types of games take part in Steam Next Fest or various other things ask away!
I will be doing a look into the numbers again, with a particular focus on generative AI usage like I did in October techraptor.net/gaming/featu...

Reaching out before hand gives me time to give your demo a shot without quite as much competition all over the place like there is during the event proper. Each Next Fest gets more and more games to sort through.
Note: I won't cover any game that is using Generative AI.

Many of 2025's Best Selling Games Used Generative AI
Generative AI was all over 2025's Steam best seller list with titles you expect like Call of Duty to developers you didn't like Obsidian Entertainment
I wrote about how almost 1 in 5 of last year's best selling games I was able to identify as having used Generative AI - either from disclosure or from interviews or other comments made including from Companies not associated with the technology: techraptor.net/gaming/featu...

I suspect cost is behind this too - namely the increasing costs for memory due to the AI sector (and bubble) hogging up a lot of memory so offering other options makes sense that it may not have in the past.
I wouldn't be surprised to see the 64 GB one get a cost increase.

This has happened multiple times that have been publicly spotted like Expedition 33, and The Alters.
The studios also seem to feel no need to put an AI disclosure on Steam despite it being part of their pipeline.

Yesterday, the Epic Games Store decided at the last minute not to distribute the game, after having previously approved a release build. HORSES is otherwise now available on GOG, Itch, and Humble for $4.99. www.horses.wtf

Ya its part of the problem is that Valve's question there is ... not good.
It feels like this should be a series of questions about how Gen AI is/was used and then an area to explain it.
