The fact that, if I wasn't lucky to end up on this specific TikTok feed/algorithm, I wouldn't have known that Rafah is gone, Cuba lost it's oil resources and is in the middle of a disaster, oil rain in Tehran or E-files updates.
I don't see this information on any other app.

Its easy for people to be desensitized with so much information being thrown at them all time but I think what really makes us human is remembering empathy.

And this is not about 'but I cope with humour' you're not coping with shit if what you're joking about isn't happening to YOU, you're just belittling those struggling. Politicians know they can use memes as a tool to win favours, it sounds ridiculous but it's a reality.

also an important reminder that when it comes to sharing jokes or memes around serious events - that's a way to desensitise you. It's why media literacy is so important in understanding the 'jokes' you are sharing, it's why making light of real struggles is a far right tactic.
