"It should be bigger news that," "why aren't people talking," but they are talking and there IS outrage.

Listen, the ways that media and information flow are structured in our terminally-online cyberpunk dystopia means that even if you've got "firehose" feeds, you're not seeing every conversation.

Violence budgets are over-inflated as is. Piling on more money to further professionalize the people committing the violence doesn't change the core dynamics: what they're there to do, who they target, and what they can get away with doing. Polishing impunity just makes the unaffected feel better.

Wildly different things, tasks, techniques, subspecialties being lumped into "AI" and then being conflated with each other, doesn't help. Different types of models vs the techniques to train them vs the tasks they are supposed to accomplish, all under "AI".
