Heterofatalism is kind of like white guilt for straight women

Gonna be honest, it did feel a bit like I had been going crazy, especially since even before any of these revelations, a lot of career transphobes were quite openly pedophilic, Germaine Greer self-described as a pederast "like all women of taste", and yet nobody seemed to see the red flags.

generative AI has become widely available in the summer of 2022 and entered mainstream in 2023

people are working themselves up in a frenzy, convinced they're utterly helpless without software younger than still-fresh canned tuna. we have been making art for at least 50,000 years, get a grip

one of the greatest human triumphs of my lifetime is the relentless, unceasing, heroic effort by DECADES' worth of doctors and scientists to find a cure for a disease much of the world didn't take seriously for years because it predominantly affected a community they thought kinda deserved it

The word don't is censored. Don't, or Don T. If you're looking for just some fun proof they're doing control+f censoring

The mainstream media needs a "political showdown" story angle to ICE or they won't cover it.

What is the red team doing and how is the blue team responding? What are the implications on the midterms or Newsom's or Pritzker's 2028 run?

Los Angeles, Chicago, Minneapolis, ICE raids never slowed down.

06.02.2026 00:32 — 👍 1071    🔁 202    💬 4    📌 7

The fact that mainstream media stopped covering ICE kidnappings in LA isn't because ICE stopped kidnapping (they didn't)

Or ICE slowed down (they have actually increased their tempo)

Or that resistance to ICE slowed down (it never stopped, it grew)

It's the "political showdown" that stopped.

Swear to god, ICE could just announce they're leaving a city but not leave and the media will just stop covering that city completely even though ICE never left.

It's what ICE and the media did with LA and they're doing it with Minneapolis too

Human trafficking is the purest, most honest expression of capitalism.

The capitalists doing it are regarded as the most effective capitalists, and that's not a coincidence. Real estate moguls, CEOs, DAVOS keynotes. They're all monsters.

The fact that a trans woman was the first person to try and sue Jeffrey Epstein for sex, trafficking her, and how the media treated her like trash and the case was thrown out only for it to be proven with the files release?

Unsurprising. Horrifying but unsurprising.

You’ve never listened to us.

The shit part about most animation in America is that we keep making animators who are so goddamn passionate and skilled yet we force them to do other things because outsourcing is cheap and exploitative as all hell.

One case I ran into: Thin metal structures always deform and wrinkle a bit. On airliners it's really subtle and only really noticeable at glancing light angles. One day I looked for references and it was all AI. None of them had that detail because it's not present in most images of airliners.

Most of us did not choose to write or draw or design so that we could put products on the shelf. We chose to do it because it’s a set of skills we enjoy exercising, that give us fulfillment.

It’s like asking a pro pitcher to just let a machine pitch for them. Fuck off and give me the ball.

This is such a misunderstanding of why writers, artists, and designers do research to begin with, which is to find something unexpected, not capture the average or find reference for the default.

And, as always, the biggest misapprehension: We don’t want to NOT do this part. It’s fun to learn shit

worth noting that the second rich people stopped being afraid of mobs tearing them limb from limb, they stopped building libraries and opera houses and stuff and started ripping the copper wiring out of the walls of society instead

You can’t teach our full history without Black History

The history of Black Americans reveals both the triumphs of our ancestors AND the historic harms our country has yet to fully reckon with and the triumphs of our ancestors.

The MAGA regime wants to whitewash all of it to control our future.

One of the most important things I was taught while being trained as a legal observer is that we point the camera away from action participants as much as possible. We only record the police and counter-protestors if we can help it. The state too often uses footage of protestors against them.

Generative AI has eviscerated every fandom/community on dire levels all around.

Got fitness/gym folks having exacerbated body issues because the keep putting their pictures through AI.

Got people who say they love card game art generating custom cards through AI.

Marbles rolling around in there.

tbh i'm sure filipinos already know this, but if you're looking for good local documentaries, most of GMA's i-witness reports cover a lot of stories from people of all walks of life, most importantly poverty. they're all free to watch on yt too, though none of them have subs.

If you think genocide is a point that can be compromised on, I'm not in some make believe "coalition" with you.

You're an existential threat to me and others and I'm not going to pretend you should be respected in polite society or ever taken seriously as an authority on anything.

I will say gently: every famous counter sit-in from the Civil Rights era was a crime.

Nonviolent civil disobedience is quite literally and explicitly a strategy where you commit crimes.

"the proudest pink"
4-panel comic, ink and colored pencil
panel 1: a young closeted iranian trans girl (me) looks at a camcorder her father is holding. she asks, "who's that?" her baba replies, "your *ame.*"
panel 2: closeup on the camcorder screen, showing a woman in hijab. the girl asks, "what's she wearing on her head?" her baba answers, "that's called *hijab.*" the girl says, "wow, so pretty... when do i get one?" her baba laughs.
panel 3: the girl is looking in the mirror, distressed, tears in her eyes. the background is a raw series of blues, almost stripping away at her. her baba's voice continues in the caption: "*baba-joon,* boys don't wear hijab..."
panel 4: the girl is now a grown woman, wearing all pink with a pink satin hijab and a white undercap. she looks immensely happy, with tears of joy in her eyes. the background is a warm pink, almost emanating from her. the caption finishes her baba's dialogue: "... only girls."
