Why I read this- I like the movie I am Legend, and am a BIG fan of Stir of Echoes (with Kevin Bacon), so when I found out RM wrote those, I read HH since it was available at my library.

Feb 22- Hell House by Richard Matheson 1971.
Liked how it ended! But this book had too much unnecessary lewdness. Not sure if it was the date it was written or RM disliking women, but females were easily manipulated & dumb while men were opposite. Interested in seeing movie version for their take.

I have the opposite of that because I'm CRAVING any snow type movies (so few!) and snowed in type books right now

This 53 year old man who lived in my neighborhood w/no criminal record & who had been in the US for 30 years, was detained and thrown into a cold cell for days, caught pneumonia and COVID there and deported.

He finally died.

GREAT BOOK! Funny every 60 yr old they come across is "ancient" 🙄 My 1st thought, was that this was too close to It, but it wasn't, and I like how the characters were more thoughtful of their families

Liked. Original storyline that kept me interested. Wish they would have cleared up what happened to the kid in gym. Felt like with the ending more people should be punished

February 10th - The Getaway by Greer Hendricks & Sarah Pekkanen
Audible OG so you can only listen there. Good for a short story- anything else would have dragged it out. Not too deep of a story, but the why was original

February 9th- Love, Mom by Iliana Xander
This was a good, original storyline! My 1st book where they talked Ai & vaping 😆

February 6th- The Lodge by Sue Watson
Just what I was looking for in my search of "snowed in" thriller type books! Didn't end how I guessed. Recommend!

SORRY JOHN GREEN!!! I started this not originally knowing it was co-written, PLUS it's a romance during the holidays. It's better fitting for a December month, so I'll revisit (I promise).

❌February- Stalking Ground by Margaret Mizushima❌
Started it, not realizing it's a series about a K9 dog (didn't read the cover or description). Not sure I'll revisit this one.

February 3rd- The Writing Retreat by Julia Bartz. REALLY liked this one! Interesting story line. Lots of twists I wouldn't have guessed, with a good ending RECOMMEND!

Murder mystery. 1957 rural Ireland. Quit reading early. Was really slow paced. Might revisit when I can focus more clearly.

Remain by Nicholas Sparks and M. Night
Good story. Guessed who the killer was earlier on, then was confirmed 3/4 the way in. Liked his friend Oscar but feel like he was making enemies in the town he's going to live in. Think ending was good note to leave it on. On the audible, stay for interview!

***TRIGGER WARNING*** Wife wakes up and finds husband committed suicide which right away you know not true. Her husband's a cop, so she has to figure things out herself. I didn't want to read a full book about cops so returned it early.

January 28- A Killing Cold by Kate by Alice Marshall
Typical "girl goes to fiancé parent's vacation home and there's problems". In this one, she sees a photo of herself as a young child in one of the cabins, so tries to figure out why. I liked it despite the trope!

January 22nd- Snow Falls by Gerri Hill
Thought was a thriller/mystery about an author trapped on her way to a writing retreat, but it was my first lesbian romance haha Was good- shorter book and not cheesy. Good story of somebody growing up sheltered and not understanding relationships. Recommend!

Jan 14th- Breathless by Amy McCulloch
This wasn't my "normal" type of book since I'm not interested in mountain climbing, but this was good! The author described everything so well, that I could picture what was happening, and I liked the characters.

Jan 11th- The Family Game by Catherine Steadman
Forgot I had read this before with book club, but nothing else was available I was interested in. Didn't remember how it ended (was good ending), so at least it was worth it! Recommend!

Jan 7- The Housemaid by Freida McFadden
This was our book club book for January. It didn't end how I thought it would, but the ending didn't make me want to read the rest in the series. Too bad all the Epstein buddies couldn't get the same fate.

The Stranger Upstairs by Lisa M. Matlin
Australian. Point of view was from the main person and her "hysteria" she was going through. The social media posting was relatable about having to "post" when not wanting to, and faking a cheerful attitude. Didn't end how I thought it would! Would recommend
