She wrote so beautifully didn’t she - taking tiny details and such wonderful characters and using them to bring history alive. Thank goodness she wrote so many novels!!!

I run an indie press based in London, and I find forgotten books to bring back to life. This was my absolute favourite read as a child and it’s funny how many readers have been in touch to tell me they felt the same way about this gentle, inspiring and timeless tale set in Tudor London.

Me too! I loved it so much I just had to reprint it. Linda Grant has worked her magic in the new intro too! (NB I hand wrap each book in tissue paper and pop in a free matching bookmark secured with a silk ribbon. Just saying!!!)
