Do they have guns or did they also draw ammo? Ammo has to be issued on a case by case basis. I heard they had guns but didn’t hear that they had ammo. I guess the answer is that they do have ammo but I didn’t see that specifically called out.

My point was that whether this is technically genocide or not is irrelevant at this point. It’s awful by any account and needs to stop.

I spend too much time doing technical writing in the environmental field these days. I agree words matter. If a modern nation wanted to slip ethnic cleansing (avoided the G-word) under the radar it just might look like this. One year ago I was arguing this was not genocide.

I’m unconvinced there is a big prize at the end of the day for successfully arguing the semantics of whether this is or is not genocide.

I would use the term proportionality and not target discrimination which are both basic tests for what constitutes a legit response. But I think we are well into the collective punishment phase which is also illegal. Are we at genocide yet? Amazing that we are asking that question.
