Snowflake Magazine @snowflakemag.bsky.social is a LGBTQIA+ quarterly arts and literature magazine. I'm proud—and thankful to poetry editor Benny Ashmore—to have my work in its new Disability Issue. You can download the whole wonderful issue for a pittance at www.snowflakeculture.com/product-page...
15.03.2025 11:53 — 👍 8 🔁 8 💬 0 📌 0The background is a sultry bedroom scene of two femme figures facing each other, one in a doorway and the other on a bed. The figure on the bed has dark brown skin, long black hair, bright green eyeshadow and is wearing thin yellow lingerie and fishnet stockings. The figure in the doorway is more masculine, with black skin and black hair wearing a heavy silver chain, big silver earrings and a crop top or binder with high waisted blue jeans, flagging an asexual flag in their right back pocket. While the scene seems to convey an intense sexual chemistry, both figures are focused on a set of glowing green TTRPG dice on the bed.

The background of the image is a grey-blue colour, with a barely visible subtle texture of covers from previous editions of Snowflake Magazine. The Snowflake logo sits at the top of the image with the words 'Submission F.A.Qs' directly below. The main text of the post reads 'Hello! Welcome to this little submission F.A.Q, swipe to see some questions we often get asked about the submissions process:' Finally, a long arrow icon stretches right to left across the bottom, prompting the viewer to swipe.
The background of the image is the same as the other images, but the covers are set against a de-saturated rose-pink colour. The Snowflake logo sits at the top of the image with the words 'Submission F.A.Qs' directly below. The main text of the post reads: 'Q: How do the themes work, do I have to talk about the LGBTQ+ community? A: The themes exist to help form a cohesive tone and idea to each issue, and can be interpreted very broadly. Your submission does not need to be about queerness, as long as you, the creator, identify as part of the LGBTQ+ community. For example, if you were submitting to the Disability Issue, your piece must in some way pertain to Disability but does not need to address the intersection of disability and queerness.' In the space next to the text sits the square bright blue hue of the cover for the disability issue, which is designed to look like a blue disabled badge with the updated accessibility logo of a stick figure in a wheelchair. The stick figure and the wheelchair are both adorned with the patterns and colours of the progress pride flag.
The background of the image is the same as the other images, but the covers are set against a darker, blue colour. The Snowflake logo sits at the top of the image with the words 'Submission F.A.Qs' directly below. The main text of the post reads: 'Q: Can I submit old work, even if it's been published in another magazine/exhibit/project? A: Yes, you absolutely can submit old work. If you have anything that you feel fits the theme, even if it's a decade old, we would be happy to review it. Your work does not need to be uniquely created for us. In regards to exclusivity, we feel that you should retain all the rights, use and access to your own work, forever. We are happy to receive work that has already been published elsewhere and for you to submit that work again to others; however please also remember to check the exclusivity policies of the other publications.' In a space to the right of the text, sits the Snowflake Magazine cover for 'The Lore Issue', featuring the fantastic artwork 'Yemoja' by Tayo Adekunle.
The background of the image is the same as the other images, but the covers are set against a deep purple-pink colour. The Snowflake logo sits at the top of the image with the words 'Submission F.A.Qs' directly below. The main text of the post reads: 'Q: Can I still submit if I’m not in the UK? Can I submit something not in English? A: Yes and Yes! We accept submissions from creators all over the world, and while our team are primarily English speakers, several members of our Snowflake team are bilingual and can review some non-English written submissions. Regardless of where you are in the world, if the submission is in English, head straight to the submission form. For other languages, please reach out to us via email if you'd like to check if we can review your work. We do require that you include an English translation of your work that we can verify the accuracy of.' In the space next to the text sits the cover for the Heritage Issue, which prominently features several aspects or people of queer cultural significance such as Keith Haring's works, a sister of perpetual indulgence, the ball scene, Lily Savage and much more.
Only a few hours left to submit!
Here's a handy little collection of questions we're often asked about, and our best attempt to answer them. Hopefully these help encourage you to send something our way, if the two prizes didn't already!

On the light blue background sits the snowflake magazine logo. Below that the words ‘art and literature prize draw’ are written in a thin, rounded but easy to read font. At the bottom of the image, in the same font, the words ‘Two 15 pound prizes for best art and written piece to be won!’
In this square image, there is a darker teal background with the image of a snowflake at low opacity being used as texture. At the top of the image, the snowflake magazine logo sits above the words ‘previous winners’. At the bottom of the image, there are two pictures side by side. The first is a bright and colourful image showing Petra-Jurik Dracovich’s ‘Rəngəlerim/İsa Şahmarlının’, a visual art tribute to an Azerbaijani LGBTQ+ Activist. In this picture the activist has been drawn in a beautiful smudgy, oil painting style and surrounded by beautiful colours, with his last facebook post in it’s original Azerbaijani written above. This post loosely translates to ‘The world is not strong enough to stand my colours’. The second image on the right is an excerpt from Jordan Alejandro Rivera’s ‘Harvest of Tzapopan’, in white font in a lighter teal square.
On a dark teal background, with small lighter blue stylised asterisk-like stars dotted around, sits a lighter teal circle in the exact center of the square image. Centered at the top of the circle sits the small Snowflake Magazine Logo, which is the unique design of a snowflake with the letters ‘SF’ written in the middle, the background colour showing through these letters like they were cut out of the logo. Below the logo reads the words ‘you are invited to Create Together: Online Body Doubling and Creation Space, 31st January 8PM to 11PM GMT’ with each clause presented in several different fonts and formats.
Snowflake is offering TWO £15 prizes for best art and written work, simply submit your work to our current window to enter! Previous submissions will be retroactively entered. ❄️🤍

At the top sits the snowflake magazine logo, our ISSN number 2754-5903 and the subtitle of 'Volume 3 Issue 4'. Below that sits the words 'Anthology Three' in pixel art text, and a large quantity of pixel art hearts each filled with a different pride flags line almost all of the remaining space. The pixel art pride flag hearts include asexual, agender, aromantic, bisexual, transgender, lesbian, intersex, pansexual, polysexual, polyamorous, genderqueer, genderfluid and demisexual.
