Constituencies like that go one way in by-elections, then often swing back next GE. I've seen it dozens of times. Calling everyone who voted differently "extremists" - that's the word Starmer used several times - is not just ungraceful, it is what you do if you do NOT want G&D to come back to you.

All I'm saying is that our governments have some real inconsistent views on who has a right to defend themselves. Or indeed what actions can count as self defence.
