A man asked me last night what publishing needs to do for literary fiction to begin appealing to men again. I said, as nicely as I could, that, with over 2,000 books published every Tuesday, of which many would appeal to men, it’s not a publishing problem, it’s a men problem.

love a lot of things about the Brits. Like when they say "Urm" instead of "Um", or "cuppa?" Instead of "would you like a cup of tea?" Or how they "arrest pedophiles" regardless of social stature instead of "making them president." All really cute stuff.

Yesterday I finished reading @gralefrit.bsky.social's Be Funny Or Die, which I've been dipping into since it came out. It's excellent, and among other things it made sense of something that's bothered me for years: why do people cut drama a lot more slack than comedy?

Healthcare in Greenland is publicly funded, free at the point of use, and despite geographical challenges considered very good.

Healthcare costs in the USA are extortionate and responsible for 60% of all US bankruptcies.

So maybe Denmark should be sending hospital ships the other way.
