The most troubling aspect of social media - the electronic exponential disseminator of information - is that it normalizes, glamorizes, and monetizes the worst of humanity. Most decent people can simultaneously decry medical insurer malfeasance while also decrying vigilante murder. But not out here.

You all will know I have been kidnapped or bodysnatched if I ever use the word aggravated to mean irritated.

I realize that as I build my Bluesky community, I’m drawn less to “resistance” accounts, and more to humanity accounts. Resistance is important but humanity is essential.

I case anyone was wondering, @mcuban.bsky.social reads his replies. He also apparently counts and categorizes them. I, for one, admire that kind of dedication.

Has it really been decided that we're calling posts on Bluesky "Skeets"??!! Really? People, is that the best we can do? I feel like I'm gonna have to yell "Pull!!" before each post.

Some may be inclined to dismiss these feelings because they insist that Jews are privileged whites, not entitled to fear of oppression. Some may immediately say "what about Gaza?" I ask you to be open enough to not invalidate my experience simply because others' traumas matter to you (and me) too.

For my fellow Canadian #lawsky folks, if you hadn't heard about this incident, @stevevladeck.bsky.social's piece here is both fascinating and a cautionary tale for members of the profession on this side of the border. I'm not confident that Doug Fords' "like-minded" judges will behave any better.

For this place to truly be a healthy community, we're gonna need to find a way to block the truly toxic accounts while tolerating or even engaging with the civil but woefully misinformed (subjective) accounts. The rub is that most of us have way too low a bar for what or whom is "toxic".
