01.03.2026 03:29 β π 4 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0Late '90s PC microphone (screencapped from eBay), such as this album seems like it could have been recorded on.
KryptiK β The Dead Hate the Living, hard to rank as the vocals have a PC mic audio quality throughout. Lyricism isn't much where you can pick it out + the music is pretty stock. Lots of movie audio doing the work for them. Can't deny there's atmosphere, but I have a high tolerance for unmixed music.

I put 'horrorcore' into Discogs, to turn over the rock for interesting microbudget critters. Next few will be those finds. Then I'll be past fifty and will likely be out of work to cover.
A lot I had to leave out for being in German, interestingly. Just no way to assess that lyrically β unless... π€
honestly, having the ability to tune out lyrics (from years of listening to, say, No Limit Records lol) in favor of music has enabled me to not hate the Chili Peppers like so many others

The recent revival of the cursed βhow very dare you say writers should readβ discourse and its βignorance is purityβ flavor reminded me of an ad for a film reviewer who didnβt watch that many movies so their reviews would be βpureβ
What were they gonna do after a few months on the job?
So yeah, I am up to my eyeballs in the βpureβ approach and itβs awful. Every silent gives them Boss Baby vibes. It MUST be referencing the one other silent they saw. The earliest movie they saw HAS to be the first to do it.
27.02.2026 20:09 β π 34 π 2 π¬ 1 π 1I get that there was a pushback against edgy content for edginess sake, but I think we pivoted too far into respectability and I need horror that isn't afraid of being banned in several countries. I need you guys to get a little bit more daring with it. I require a healthy level of bad taste.

27.02.2026 00:42 β π 9 π 2 π¬ 0 π 0It's a fine time when I'm at home with the boyf, or even out with the boyf of late. But the vibe on anything longer-term important (like bettering my job or keeping good friends) isn't there of late. Particularly hating work this week, and it's two shifts to go.
27.02.2026 16:20 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0feel like the salience of mass culture consumption is way down at the same time, while "how do we participate in tech infrastructure ethically" is much harder and maybe makes even less sense?
27.02.2026 03:19 β π 3 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0I think for me, growing up, the question βhow do we consume mass culture ethicallyβ would have made no sense and I kinda still think thatβs true

"Cyclists keep getting killed by cars! They need their own space."
"Ah, I have the solution. We'll simply take this pedestrian path filled with children and elderly people, and ask them to share it without any clear segregation at all".
"Motion passed!"
I can't think of a franchise that burnt as much good will as Scream has. I remember the last one people were genuinely excited for, this has a sense of "oh, it's out?"

I don't expect Discogs to be very accurate about genre, but using the horrorcore tag and searching 2001 gives me a lot I hadn't heard ofβmostly seemingly released on a microbudget.
Plenty to choose from for a last few. But would anyone have been interested in hearing about it, if I'd started there?
