Fancy mocktails make Christmas time feel special. This year I chose to celebrate. I also chose to grieve, just differently this time.

We sipped, dipped, dined, laughed and soaked for the past few days. A wonderful little honeymoon in Calistoga. In awe of this little life of ours and the effort and love we constantly put into it. Grateful for all of it. As a poet once said, what a thing it is to live this life.

Birthday wishes were made and I was right, Dr. pepper tastes better in wine glasses. 31 and classy, what a joy it is to celebrate you!

The first simmer pot of many, welcoming the changing of seasons.

They stated my mother’s full name right before we took our vows. They were unaware she is no longer with us, I did not correct them. Just for a moment we all believed she was alive yet absent and it was beautiful. I believe she was there, within us, filling us with the magic of life.

I was aiming for spooky season vibes but also something I could use for other events and purposes… probably do a little more of a wedding dress for our larger celebration.

On this rainy autumn morning I married the absolute love of my life 💜

Asking you to marry me was the best decision I have ever made.

Although I work almost every night, I usually still get the chance to chase the sunsets… and then race home to my little family who recently adopted this small guy named Bandit. Which just goes to show that you can grieve and love at the exact same time.

We are too 💜 house feels empty without her.

Our sweet Cali girl let us know that it was her time. Surrounded by love we let her go. It was a decision purely made out of love and respect for her. I may never stop crying in her absence, but my world was so bright with her around 💜 to my girl, I will love you for the rest of my life.

Standing there, listening to the loudest fireworks on the planet, my friend who had just lost her mom only a few months prior said, “ my mom would’ve loved these”. Fireworks became a new symbol in my life for other women who have lost their moms. Loud and colorful 🎡

18 hours before his flight they came in for some fish & chips. As they heckled me with silly questions I was really just happy that two of my favorite people were there, laughing. Snapped a few pics just to remember. My two best friends. My brother. And the absolute love of my life 💜

It’s been 15 years since my mother exited this world. I couldn’t imagine a day without her. Yet here I am still figuring out this life. Because of her I laugh loudly and love courageously. She is missed by so many, especially me 💜
