I am honestly looking forward to it. Teaching online was necessary due to covid demands and honestly student demand but I can't wait to get this group back in person and do more F2F stuff.

Since COVID, I've been teaching the tech comm service course online, but returning to in-person this fall (for reasons). I need ideas for a super-engaging day 1 activity to get students social. Anyone have any great ideas?

This year in a nutshell

On Friday, I got promoted to full Professor. Today, got a paper rejected, and the first thing reviewer 2 said about the paper was that "In academic writing, the use of short forms of words such as "we've" are not allowed." 😂

Today someone called my office phone while I was in my office. This marks the second time that has happened in the past 12 years.

We just had the experience where older family members who were looking to renew their passports went to a scam website (that looked legit but was not) and gave up PPI + lost a of money. Wondering how this new AI-enabled search paradigm is making scam sites more sticky. (2/2)

I'm sort of fascinated (aka appalled) at what the AI slop that comes at the top of each Google search does to screen real estate. Slop + Sponsored links + then eventually legitimate links and what the potential impact is (1/2)
