Holding on to the messy, gritty, resilient kind of hope - despite the realities of a life that led... to this. Will not obey in advance. Will not be quiet when people are hurt. *Will* ask if I can pet your dog. πŸ“šπŸΎπŸ’™πŸ€˜πŸ€ πŸ§˜β€β™€οΈ

The vibe really is β€œif we don’t put on the best damn musical this town has ever seen, they’ll close down the old rec center for good!”

But the β€œrec center” is the country 😨😨😨

I think that the outcome in the NY Mayoral race and the Wisconsin Supreme Court race both show that people power CAN beat the political money machine. That should give us all hope, and the motivation to work for the government we want.

β€œThe big cities don’t represent the real America!”

The big cities are where most Americans live and where most of the country’s GDP is generated. I’d never claim that my little 94% white town in NH isn’t America, but NYC represents the country more accurately.

Safe communities are not defined by the presence of police, but by the absence of poverty. The key to ending poverty is stable, affordable housing and high-quality public education.

Justice Sotomayor’s Message to Lawyers: Stand Up, Fight and Win In an era when judges are often assessed by their commitment to democracy, Justice Sonia Sotomayor stands as a stalwart in the pro-democracy camp.

Those on the high court often exercise caution in their choice of words. That is why it was striking when she used an audience of lawyers to deliver a stern message to the legal profession: stand up for democracy, take on the hard fights and do whatever you can to win.

The rule of law is all or nothing and must apply equally to everyone. If there's no rule of law for some people in America, then there's no rule of law for any of us.

US will stop tracking the costs of extreme weather fueled by climate change The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration said it will no longer track the cost of weather disasters, including floods, heat waves, wildfires and more

Not only are they ignoring climate changeβ€”they’re trying to cover up the cost. Shutting down NOAA’s disaster tracking so we can’t see the BILLIONS it’s costing us? This ain’t solving the crisisβ€”it’s hiding it.

It isn't that America lacks courage. It's that we’ve become so cut off from one another that many of us feel alone, which makes us feel afraid.

But when we are surrounded by courageous people, all of us become more courageous.Β

Courage is contagious.

We often look back on the seminal moments in our history and wonder "What would I have done?"

This is our moment. This is our time.

We must stand up. We must speak out. We must do everything we can to stop a President who has every intention of destroying our democracy.
