people have centralized the docs like 5 times
there just arent that many amd people just bookmark instead of actually reading in full
then u basically said "well maybe more exposure would be helpful" and to that i say i dont think it will from prior experience
but you are welcome to try
i just wont be joining you cuz im not feeling too inspired personally
i have nothing more to say btw i have no reason to discourage you from writing
the initial premise was "how do we get people to read for splatoon" and my reply was "that is an open challenge in education in general, even with more direct incentives to try and push kids to read, so idk"
sure, that's valid
i just dont think flooding the market with written work is a very viable path to success, especially relative than creating consumable video content
there arent enough ppl that can/will do it
it is very easy to say "why so negative, i'm sure it'll do something!" when you did not actually do the thing and experience the frustration of watching its effects be minimal

please note that I spent several months writing something and watched it do nothing
im not just like
hallucinating
i am speaking from personal experience, as well as the experiences of others who i have spoken to who have similary attempted to create change through written stuff
you can argue that people who want to be the best should put more effort in but
the intersection of people with immediate potential to take the leap to high level vs the people who will sit down and read
is basically nonexistent
the argument against writing is that objectively it doesnt get enough high quality engagement to create real change
people either skim and misinterpret or bookmark and dont rly read it
sure, there are some people that engage fully
but there won't be much
in other words its not a splatoon problem lol its a systematic collapse

i understand that you think removing + would be helpful
i just think that
removing + won't help people's mindsets
AND
removing + introduces new problems for access/visibility/weakened meritocracy
so i think, overall, removing + is harmful, not helpful
people egoing and trying to "result" others at your level is unrelated to the existence of +
in short, I don't think deleting + would make a dent in the results-oriented problems at low lvl, and it would just make high/top level even more private/gated, so you'd get nonzero loss with minimal gain
i dont think the net benefit to the overall community's results culture is worth making the scene more closed off, private, and inaccessible
+ server provides real benefits
i'm not entirely sure why you care, given that you're like
playing low ink
in the sense that like
the fact that you see \
the proof that it won't change anything is right there in how low-level behaves
like a div 5 guy has no business seriously considering fighting for +3 access or whatever, but the results culture is there too
what luti div are you
how have you performed in xyz skillcappd tournament
etc
you had to be around before +3 existed to know what it was like but results culture wasn't really any better
we just don't have a well-defined and robust way of proving how good you are so you have to do a song-and-dance for people to take you seriously
like in jp you can just
check xp
all deleting + server does is make it so that people will privately remake +1/+2 except now there will be no entry criteria and it will *solely* be based on vibes and friendships
and also you won't know it exists so you can't even try to get in
and also people will still be results oriented
yeah it's either lag or jank bullet hitboxes bc it shouldnt be very possible for a pellet to fall that straight down behind the wall
