With the awful news from the last couple hours, this post from the political optimism subreddit helped to break through a bit of the despair fog. Repubs know this is political suicide, ICE's support is crumbling despite the budget increase, and there's a myriad of ways to fight back. Keep strong.

i think i'd miss a lot of the people who still float around on there, but if there's ever been a greater time to move on from the platform after sticking it out for way longer than i should have, it's probably now

i say this a lot but it's become increasingly difficult for me to use twitter. like i recognize that people left ages ago but it's a hard platform to leave because of how integrated it is into online discourse

this also reminds me, it's gross that people are criticizing how people mourn while using it to push a narrative. maybe don't do that, idk, for at least a week? have some taste and respect for the family? damn.

for every positive the internet has brought it is clear in recent years that it has affected greater social discourse on so many things. it's right to expose wrongs --- but the public eye starts a war that has no reason to exist when things can be handled privately, especially over stuff like this.

i feel like the internet has made it so much more difficult for people to handle things in an adult matter and folks only pay attention for the drama/crashing out that happens that tips things over. and it's only gotten worse and worse since covid.

in the modern age, people will hold your feet to the fire for anything and never allow yourself the chance to find the help you need and make things right, because even if you do the right thing, it's never enough

if i'm so real, i think that it truly sucks that hax was never able to make a proper return to the community because of something that he thought was a good idea at the time and was not received nearly as well as he thought (which many "free hax" people forget), because people really can change

i was trying to think of places i could post my honest thoughts regarding what happened to hax, and i decided my best bet is on bluesky, because i hardly use it and just wanted to dump something; plus twitter just sucks for this sort of mindset sometimes because people are searching keywords, but uh

the hopium of "maga is done if they lose" requires them to actually lose. but a large amount of americans are so tired of media, so tired of people yelling in their ear even when they need to hear it, they're ignoring it.

how can anyone hope to swing the pendulum the other way if that's how it is?

we can blame the dems all we want, point fingers at unelectability, fascism, everything that should make you not vote for trump...but more than 50 million people have. and the culture shift, above everything, has split the left and radicalized the right to make this the new normal.

election cycle shifted in 2012 - people felt disenfranchised with politics and how people talked about politics, and it created antagonism with media and susceptibility to propaganda

which led to the resurgence of everything course correcting for obama. 2016. 2020, barely. now, 2024.

one the one hand, rivals 2 is cool because it finally gives platform fighter players a game that they could play collectively with one another and that's awesome

on the other hand, rivals 2 will not survive the next smash game, and if you've put time into it, it will not be hard to see why
