This image does not show private property sign Diermeier put up to keep "outsiders" out. Time for universities to stand up for freedom, not advocate "institutional neutrality," which, as an alum wrote in the school paper, assumes we are "all stupid" and don't see cowardice for what it is.

Sickening, but predictable. In such times people/institutions MUST stand up against authoritarianism--"institutional neutrality" is BS, another form of silence as complicity.

we were there, and would have been nice if more officials of the Democratic party came and spoke. Time for everyone to stand up

I meant interesting--"our audience does not care about this type of work (a direct quote)." Reviewed a lot of essays, never done that--have no idea what is interesting to people, just interested in the scholarship

To all fellow academics... a familiar experience... had an article rejected (after nearly 4 month wait, not bad in this business), but reviewers referred repeatedly to a presupposed journal audience that would not find the work uninteresting (too historical).

What seems to me missing in recent discussions of opposing Trump is sufficient emphasis on the fact that he is unhinged, impaired, spews a rambling form of hatred that warrants all out effort to remove him from office. I fear that Dems to often distill the incoherence/hatred into policy

Democrats have to make Americans understand that Trump's "big" bill aims at using revenue to expand ICE and military spending that would otherwise go to social programs and help citizens, for whom he and the Republican have always had contempt. Need Dems to convey the gravity of this.

On a single Saturday in September:
--Trump instructed his AG to go after specific political enemies.
--We learned that his DOJ ended an investigation into his border czar, who was caught on camera taking a $50k cash bribe.
--His Pentagon top brass threatened to expel journalists who report info not cleared by them.
--His WH spoke to a shady deal that will see TikTok in the hands of a consortium of GOP mega-donors.
--Trump threatened "bad things" if we don't retake Bagram AFB.
--His most senior counterterrorism official is in a Twitter spat with Laura Loomer.
None of this is normal. All of it is so dangerous and corrosive to our democracy.

In for cancer CT today at Vanderbilt. Told no results for 3 weeks--continuation of an overall and unnecessarily bad experience with Neuroendocrine dept. Rude staff, uncaring doctor (Ramirez). Have gone primarily to Sloan Kettering for treatment (excellent). Advice--don't get sick!

It needs be said that while dealing with serious illness, I am overwhelmed by kind messages from former students (who mostly don't know). Advice, never be cynical about teaching, we get as much back as put in. It's not all about scholarly status.

To simplify further, Trump freed those who, at his command, attempted to overthrow an election and democracy. Any subsequent claim to claim to action on behalf of law and order is absurd, in addition to unconstitutional deployment. National guard as Trump's personal SS...

As health issues continue... an observation. Serious illness is emotionally more difficult for those around us. The sick person becomes a pragmatist--what to can I do, what can't I do--negotiating limits and symptoms that minimize emotions--if that makes sense.

Wish people would stop asking me about Di Fara's pizzeria near where I grew up. Genuine locals do not identify their neighborhoods by pizzerias--and the one pictured below, on Kings Highway, was beloved, along with at least 3 others on that street.

And the news media actively assists by covering and projecting the BS--responsible voices, democrats, need to respond with own flood of truth, this is a species of war, and needs to be identified as such

🚨TESTIMONY OF THE YEAR: A Texas voter just torched Donald Trump and Greg Abbott during a redistricting hearing - and it was BRUTAL:
“He cheated on the golf course…
He cheated on his taxes…
He cheated on his wives…
He cheated on democracy…”
But then came the mic drop 👇
