Nice to see but is not news to anyone who is awake in the US - we need to be working on radical reforms in medical school admissions and residency education - the US pipeline is dangerously low.

Call centers destroy a patient’s sense of connection to a practice. Please don’t use them for β€œefficiency” - study them. Easier to solve problems directly rather than skimming through β€œif you want this, push 5”

If β€œwellness visits” are not used to increase a physicians understanding of who the patient is, increase trust and emphasize continuity, and build a relationship, it is just a bunch of check marks. @aafp.bsky.social

we live in a prairie in North East Illinois. No buffalo but lots of flowers, wildlife and insects. Our community is a conservation community - and anyone can get closer to that idea.

Most studies in the US found that loan forgiveness/support for working in disciplines or locations that are needed most is the most effective driver for primary care. Lowering tuition just lets everyone get by cheaper. Tying loans to careers and locations is best.

The socioeconmic advantages of students from professional families negatively influences them from careers in primary care or working in underserved communities. Cutting loans will worsen the problem.

"General internal medicine" in communities has almost vanished in the past decade for all IM residents - the general IM residents are all taking hospitalist jobs and the training of IM is still hospital, rather than community based. Change that and you might see students more interested.

If we are not IN communities and offering a wide range of care so that continuity and a relationship can be foster, it isn't primary care. As Bill Phillips MD said: "You can pretend to know, you can pretend to care, but you cannot pretend to be there"

What is the USPSTF and why does it matter? The USPSTF is an independent advisory panel of experts who make evidence-based recommendations about clinical preventive services.

In the last few weeks, the little known agency called the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) has made the news. The HHS has discussed removing all of the USPSTF members, similar to what was done to the ACIP. Just what is the USPSTF & why is it so important to protect health? πŸ‘‡
