Coaching Points (CP): With this being delivered to two different age groups the CP and delivery style would change based on this.

i.e., U12:
Reception Detail (Receive on the back foot)
Off the ball Movement
Encourage players to switch play and not force the ball into the goals.
Disguised passes

If the team scores in the Mini Goal they get the ball straight back from the coach. So make sure to be ready on the side with a few balls to ensure the intensity of the practice remains high.

If you have GK's as part of your session you could place them on the outside of the practice as Neutrals.

This practice could also be 6v6+2.

The purpose of this drill is to get the players to begin to think about ways that they can manipulate the opposition in order to play through Midfield and break lines (Switching play etc...). In this practice, that would take the form of scoring in the mini goal.

Part of a Playing through the thirds session I delivered yesterday.

Age group: U12s and U16s
Time: 1 hour.
Number of players: 11-14

First Practice: 15 Mins 5v5 (+1) Mini Goal Game
1. Combine for a number of passes of your choice i.e, 8 passes = 1 Point
2. Score in either mini goal = 2 points
