A bolete mushroom with a smooth bulbous brown cap, a pale yellow porous underside and a thick tapered orange-brown stipe is growing from a moss-covered tree root in a forest. The convex cap is covered in a slimy veil making it very shiny and glossy. Thereβs another small beige gilled mushroom with a flat cap growing below it and some fallen leaves and hairy beech nut husks.

Slightly looking down at a group of five elongated upright, club-shaped, black fungi sticking out the side of a rotting charcoal-colored log. They resemble zombie fingers, which is why theyβre called dead manβs fingers (Xylaria polymorpha).
