Drawings are key to Bryan Ley’s process: they explore composition and imagine paintings. Some grow into paintings, some stand alone, and sometimes a painting appears without a drawing.

Nudity in art: when is a body truly nude? 🍆 Modern and contemporary artists in the MORE collection show all kinds of nudes - male, female, adult, child. But what feels aesthetic, and what provocative? Gender, age, pose, expression, and context shape our perception. Where do we draw the line?

The still life allows for a clear, objective view of the world: no drama, just close attention to everyday objects. In 𝘊𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘵𝘺𝘢𝘳𝘥 𝘞𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘰𝘸, Forssell captures this perfectly.

Ads, comic strips, bold colours – and women. In the '60s and '70s, Pop Art portrayed women as both idealised icons and symbols of liberation. In 𝘗𝘖𝘗 𝘔𝘖𝘋𝘌𝘓𝘚, women take centre stage, as muses and makers. 👩‍🎨

𝗞𝗶𝗷𝗸𝗱𝗼𝘇𝗲𝗻, 𝗸𝗿𝘂𝗶𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗲𝗻 𝗸𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗸𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘀. Dwaal door de verrassende wereld van Jemima de Jonge in Kasteel Ruurlo. Als jonge kunstenaar ontving Jemima al meerdere onderscheidingen, waaronder de Sacha Tanja Penning. Te zien t/m 16 november.

In the series of paintings 𝘓𝘪𝘣𝘣𝘺 𝘓𝘪𝘣𝘣𝘺 𝘓𝘪𝘣𝘣𝘺, Helen Verhoeven focuses on the beautiful Libby; an artist and local café worker. In this work, now on show in our exhibition 𝘊𝘶𝘵𝘦 & 𝘊𝘢𝘵𝘵𝘺 in Ruurlo, you can see her surrounded by cats.

Friendship, intimacy and shared experiences. In her paintings, Bobbi Essers (2000) depicts her circle of friends, searching for a rendering of a personal experience that is also universal.
