🚨Preprint! Happy to share the research from my PhD “Genome delivery of a contractile tailed phage and its superinfection exclusion mechanism”. We use cryoEM to study the genome ejection of the phage T4, revealing how the tape measure protein regulates the process.

This shows that "abortive infection" phenotypes are not neccessarily in all cases a "last line" of defense, but may be the consequence of mechanisms interferring with early steps in the phage life cycle.
We further show synergy of daunorubicin with RM systems targeting the FST region T5 phages.
