Well done sir!

With the new baby, I did not get out much this spring. Which was ok. I had more important things to do. π¨βπΌπ
But I did make it out a few times. One of those was on May 25th. A really fantastic series of Supercells in Northwest Texas. Its fun to watch all that vorticity... not produce a tornado. π
Spring is finally here in Oklahoma. π
Thunderstorm gust front sweeping through Western Oklahoma on the night of March 29th.
It was cold and WINDY!
What strange and sobering times we live in. I am thankful for those speaking out. I don't know how much time I and many others have left with NOAA. But it sure has been wonderful to see the encouragement. π₯Ή
05.03.2025 21:37 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I should add that this is indeed sped up. (For anyone who couldn't tell.) This is timelapsed using still photographs taken every few seconds for around an hour or so.
20.02.2025 00:59 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Crazy supercell lightning from two years ago in mid April. This is actually two supercells interacting over Norman to Shawnee OK. Supercells tend to produce crazy amounts of lightning right where the main updraft punches up into the anvil.
20.02.2025 00:55 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0That is an amazing list of accomplishments. Thanks for all you have done.
I am in the same boat over at the Radar Operations Center. Just holding my breath and trying to carry on.
Sometimes you just gotta take your camera to work.
This is the old WSR-57 antenna that is on display at the Radar Operations Center.
The image gives good "February in Oklahoma" vibes.
βWhy do I need NOAA? Iβve got a weather app.β
Is equivalent to asking
βWhy do I need farms? I can go to the supermarket.β

Storm chasers a mile or two north of us had much better views of it. But a number of them got stuck on muddy back country roads.
These images have the contrast greatly enhanced in order to bring out the tornado.
A significant tornado occurred in Southwest Oklahoma on May 23rd this past year. It was very hard for us to see. We were due south of it right in the storm's inflow jet which was picking up tons of dust.

29.01.2025 16:44 β π 7 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0This was one of my favorite winter scenes from a few years ago. Somewhere in Northwest Oklahoma in 2020 or 2021.
21.01.2025 01:59 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I mean, I unashamedly act this way when it snows. Snow is cool! Especially when you get those large aggregates of dendrites. πβοΈ
21.01.2025 01:54 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The earth's rotation cause a slight "squish" at the poles and a slight expansion at the equater.
03.01.2025 01:24 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Actually the earth is a very slightly squished spheroid.π
03.01.2025 01:22 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0This panorama was captured right in front of the storm near the town of Goree Texas. The cylindrical updraft appeared laminar as the storm was nearing the end of its life. At this point, the dynamics of the storms rotation were largely driving the updraft.
14.12.2024 16:15 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0One of my absolute all time favorite storms occured in NW Texas on May 30th 2012. It looked like a massive, corck-screwed vacuum cleaner.
14.12.2024 16:10 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I stumbled across this fantastic video by @convchronicles.bsky.social on the May 6th 2024 severe weather event. I was definitely puzzled by the lack of daytime significant tornadoes and rapid upscale growth . This video offers very compelling evidence as to why. youtu.be/nuRKngLhszc?...

Gorgeous sunset a few weeks ago after one of our recent heavy rain events here in Central Oklahoma.
Taken from Scissortail Park in OKC.
Well, here I am on a new social media platform.
Cool.
First posts are always awkward I guess.
Anyhow, here is one of my favorite photographs of colorful Colorado. Holly Colorado in late June of 2023 to be more precise.
