I ran the Translated Chinese Fiction Podcast for 5 years - after hiatusing it I have focused on
1οΈβ£ writing weird stories
2οΈβ£ reviewing Chinese/Sino books
3οΈβ£ other odd writings
Would love to talk. Life is finite so why not?
I believe this is the opening scene of Train to Busan

And the recurring words 'can't stay, won't leave' are from this track. Because it's where I think many of our heads are at, these days

I used this song title in a sentence because it's hard as heck

Thank you so much π Yours reminded me of a chapter in Absolution by Jeff Vandermeer titled 'Two Men in a Fucking Boat Thing', which is high praise π£ββοΈ
Also, in the spirit of recommending things... I'll tell you the song title and lyric I plagiarised in The Cheshire Plain ππ£

Was great! Soma rang a bell π this is why: verybadwizards.com/episode/epis...
I once listened to Ted Chiang chat about it
I have just been rewatching the Ghost in the Shell TV series so this will do nicely over a cup of fibre-optic tea later today, thank you πβπ

Escape. From the noise in your head to the burden of emotion to your awful past. Angus Stewart brings us a story about escape and rebirth in Desire to Feel Nothing. www.neondystopia.com?p=100043485

It's based on my experience inside a sensory deprivation tank - may it make you feel like you are floating too
I had totally forgotten that back in 2019, @flashfictionnorth.bsky.social published my wee story 'East Coast West Coast'. This is a good one for dog owners and people who enjoy tasting bittersweet memories.

So proud to be inside this gorgeous, ghostly, and at times disgusting magazine.
My story is about a guy whose mind is disintegrating while he traverses one of the richest stretches of land in England - also disintegrating.
And with zero spite: happy St Andrews Day π€ π΄σ §σ ’σ ³σ £σ ΄σ Ώ
There's some reading for me tomorrow, so thank you too!
I got lucky slightly - I happened to have very recently read Written on Water. It made me:
(1) Want to zap back in time and quiz the author
(2) Feel guilty for having read so few of her stories
Chuffed to be in the Asian Review of Books covering a novel that pulled me right in (tr by @jeremytiang.bsky.social π)
It's about a nanny stuck caring for a boy while his ultra rich parents flee a corruption investigation π¨π³
Plus there is a goose π¦’ and it's loose
Sent this very same text out on X too. Two flavours of throwing scraps into the void. Hard to know how to get any attention at all without returning being a podcaster! Which I'd love to do but then my time to write would be pushed out.

Have been sending out a 'mad wee story' today. Very experimental, about a fish digitally spliced with a man.
A month or so ago I was sending out a far more normal story, about sensory deprivation.
If you the reader know any editors looking for scratchings, lemme know!
