Pentacle, the Sanguine

aside from chasing creative bliss i think it's also a safeguard against people jacking your shit when you lean into the weird and personal. in the past when people have quite blatantly used or ripped off my characters it is always a sort of defanged version with nothing behind the eyes

Lis went out of her way to have special fighting gear from her tailors sewn for Alisaie as a birthday gift in EW, which Alisaie treasures and wears often afterwards.

Lis also had special gloves sewn for Ameliance in DT, seeing as Ameliance treated her Wind-Up Cursor familiar so kindly. :3

And Lis treasures Alisaie's willingness to fight, Alisaie's pluckiness and strength. I like to imagine the two were kind of at each other's throats at first, but Lis really grew to appreciate how much heart and courage Alisaie puts into all she does, and their training sessions were lots of fun.

Lis is far warmer towards Ameliance, because Ameliance reminds her of both her parents. She is glad to run errands for Ameliance when she is around + Ameliance was one of the few to research enough to send proper mourning items within Avaini culture to Lis after her father's passing.

They do try often to see the good in each other, though, out of the wishes of those like Alisaie and Minfilia, and their dynamic warms a small amount in the margins of EW as a result. It does not warm enough to stop Thancred from subsuming Alphinaud into his faction by force, but Lis tried.

Lis resents and remembers how Alphinaud treated her in ARR. She may have seemingly, outwardly forgiven him for this, but she tends to keep an eye on him, and their dynamic is sometimes tense/awkward in a way that colors how Alphinaud writes about her like she's his sleep paralysis demon.

She really admires how willing he is to take care of his (Liscanon-specific) adopted progeny, how much pride he takes in his work, + how he's so curious about the mechanics of how things work. That's something she can really get behind + she ends up confessing a lot to him that she wouldn't usually.

Lis is a skittish sort of creature, going into the start of XIV's plot. I think she's wary of Cid at first like she is of the others, but Cid's tolerance to her weirdness and the way he gives her a safe place to hide out in when shit gets tough goes a long way to earning her trust.

reminded of FF8 again and I am once more in my feelings about Ishani/Laguna. the way Laguna treasures Ishani in a way that's so cathartic to her. the way Ishani feels seen and valued by him, the way he collaborates with Isabel to cultivate her favorite flowers as a surprise for Ishani.

(There's also the fact that Isabel's son is the Source Shard of Narcissus/Halmarut, the /one/ actually decent Shard of Halmarut that we know of, and Ishani is a primal hunter who helps track down and defeat Primals on Lis's behalf.)

Deudalaphon in Liscanon... I haven't talked about him much, but I should considering he's the main antagonist of Pridesflame. I write the Seat of Deudalaphon as one of the few Convocation members allowed to access otherwise forbidden eldritch realms. It's vital for their work.

In Liscanon, the Meteions end up burrowing into the bodies of those about to pass on to the Star so while their souls might have left for the Star, their bodies are left as shambling husks of who they used to be, wandering around and trying to do their usual routine.

Lis is a goth nerd nearing jock because she's damn good at fighting and loves it, but would also love Anne Rice if you introduced it to her + knows more about unhinged blood rituals than any person has the right to know. Morevna of the Dead Leaves, her Azem, is the same but more towards the Nerd scale because Morevna knew more about all sorts of rituals than some people ever know in their entire lives. Crow Locke is a Goth Jock because it doesn't read as much and is more focused on hunting monsters + bettering its cooking abilities. That's right. This vampire crow demon was doing Dunmeshi before Dunmeshi even got an anime adaptation. Sender of the Red Book is in-between goth, jock and nerd, far more on the goth end of the scale, because she's a Barbarian/Wizard who, as she would put it, "hits things good and knows things just as goodly". Her voiceclaim is Siouxsie Sioux and I think that gets her right at the end of the Goth Scale along with Lis, Morevna and Crow Locke. Daisy Fay is in-between goth, prep and nerd because I think some people would classify her as a prep if she wasn't so disconcertingly feral and bizarre. We're talking about someone who bit a chunk of another girl's hand off in a fight, that's pretty goth if you ask me. Still, she reads enough stuff like Wuthering Heights and the Bacchae that I think that gets her classified as a nerd. Fleur, her daughter, is far more of a nerd on account of the fact that she was raised by another family and taught detrimental amounts of restraint by her abusive mentor. Still, she's got a bit of the goth in her! She's dating a vampire lady and a mafia dude, that's gotta count for somethin'!
