are you absolutely sure you have the right combination of Typescript version, compiler target option, feature flags, and decorator syntax version?

i've never used decorators myself, but they're exactly the kind of thing I'd expect web build toolchains to be incredibly finicky about

sure, but mozilla doesn't have any responsibility for what features native apps are allowed to utilize. they're only responsible for what features web apps are allowed to utilize

"other applications allow insecure usage, so this one should too" is a not a responsible way to think about security

that's not really firefox's problem, though

they're not obligated to implement something with security risks just because their competitor did. not even if it means that their usage share plummets because users don't value security.

nope. office software is special here because it's been a highly competitive field with a lot of contenders, because anti-monopoly regulators have been breathing down MS's neck for decades, and because text and tables are both very simple formats in the first place

you might laugh, but who the hell is doing anything half as creative as this these days?

thing to remember is that laptops were still annoyingly awkward to use in those days. a bit too heavy and a bit too slow, but cheap enough to become common in business use

so lots of companies were doing weirdass shit to try to work around "open the laptop and wait 5mins for it to wake up" problems

target customer was probably "executive for national company who's always traveling btwn different offices"

so always using a laptop and carrying a portable mouse to go with it, and regularly on skype calls with people in other offices. why not combine them so you have to carry one less thing?
