& I don't feel like I have the range but we could also add how victims of SA are treated regarding all of this. I can't help but remember the latest discourse where apparently a lot of people consider them tainted, and for life! All this w/out even bringing up the victim blaming

Something something weaponizing Lestat hypersexualization in order to paint his as untrustworthy and unreliable. Something something sex making you dirty and immoral. Revolutionary representation of how society treats bisexuality if you ask me

I think the needed blasphemy in Louis' freedom from religion is thinking himself godlike. There is no god, we are gods. In a very capitalist way of killing god to become it

I love how when the unholy family is addressed individually, each one gets called the devil. When it's about Lestat and Louis, they get called demons. And when it's about the unholy family at large, they're satan.

Lestat, Louis and Claudia are all called the devil, at least once, during season one, and I think the moment they are called that, as well as the character who calls them that, tells us a lot about their characters & themes🧡

The choreography in this scene is amazing. The light shows a breach she has crossed, a change of some kind, she's not the same as before. And I can't help but noticed how she's actually not on the right path, headed towards the sunlight, what will kill her at the end.

And whose fault is it? Her nature? No. She doesn't talk about nature, she talks about being brought up as a killer, being raised to kill.

And that's how we arrive to Charlie. Another word appears. "Angel". What she called Louis when he first found her. Does every devil want to be called an angel? To be seen as good?

She gets called the devil by the first person she kills, his last words. It's not a coincidence that Claudia has a fixation on his victims's last words from this point onward.

It relates to her theme of having a body that never grows up. Being a grown woman and looking like a little girl, looking like a little girl but being a monster, a killer.

The third time is Claudia. She gets called the devil by a cop. Her arc is about defying authority, killing the ultimate authority (the ultimate enemy in her mind) Lestat. Her sin is pretending to be what she isn't, looking innocent when she's a monster, weak when she's dangerous

Who calls them devil is important, bc Fenwick could have called Louis that after firing at him, but he doesn't. He's not important enough, to Louis or the story. He's the little man, not Louis. This scene is about Louis defining himself, calling himself a vampire for the 1st time

Louis worries about his nature, he should get to define it himself. But after this scene we have the "oh, so it's about the money" scene. Pretty self explanatory regarding Louis' true nature. His mother just called him the devil, so he tries to paint himself a hero of his people

Louis' mother, the one that gave him life, the one that made him. She has a symbolic (and unearned) authority to define his nature. That's why she has to be the one calling him the devil, not Grace for example. Because it's not about emotion, it's about authority and control.

It's actually the one she wears the first time we see her, but she usually avoids low necklines & dresses more modestly, so it's not as noticeable. The neckline above is intentional so the viewer notices the cross

I love how in this scene the cross that Florence wears around her neck is front and center. She has positioned herself as the protector of hypocritical "goodness". She represents religion now, or uses it thinking it will protect her from evil

The second one is Louis himself. He gets called the devil by his mother when he's visiting his human family. He's not doing things their way, he comes and goes when he wants to. That freedom is perceived as disrespect by his family, a family that talks about him behind his back

Lestat enters like a storm breaking the institution of shame and undeserving faith that held Louis captive. The confesionary almost looks like jail, like a closet. Lestat breaks with it, ripping it out. His love, loving the way he does, loving another man, makes him the devil

The first one is Lestat. He gets called the devil on a church, by Louis. This is contextualized by Louis' guilt, by queerness, and religion. Lestat is called the devil because he is temptation and desire

Exactly. It's basically an echo chamber, a group of people make up a problem and if it's repeated enough times people believe it's real

Yep. It makes me so mad... and how it later became a discourse about how p!mp Louis is written as a p!mp too often on ao3 ?? That wasn't the topic at all (and I don't think it's true either)

02.12.2025 11:52 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

The same people indeed complained about that, but they cared about it bc the authors receiving the unhinged comments write stuff they like, and they are their friends too. As soon as someone writes something they don't like they start criticizing them. It's a pattern

Hey sorry for the late reply, I'm not here often.
Apparently she was getting harassed but kept quiet about it, a friend of hers talked about it on twitter and they seemed very pissed off. Thankfully nothing happened to her, but it's still horrible of course

People going after fleshindie w/out even having read the fic in question bc she was getting praised after that thread of lestat the stage & sex work. It's so disgraceful. Louis isn't even the p!mp in that fic, Magnus is. After what happened to biscuitsplease, to Gracie. Stop going after fic writers
