Sounds like a fun game. I'm looking forward to the early ironclad rules.

In home waters/European waters,sailing is not much of an issue. However, If you are in the far east, running out ofcoal could be a problem. Also, if your boiler breaks down or is shot out of action, then sailing would have to be resorted to. Warrior made her best times under sail and steam.

... integrate with land actions? I recall the USS Osage put a whuppin' on the rebels when she had run aground. So, if your friend does ACW intergrated with land actions, I'd like to see that. As for strictly ocean-going rules, if they are early ironclad, they will need decent sailing components.

It depends on the cover art. I really only look at the pictures. So, Water and Iron, or maybe Rust. I believe your friend is working on some early Ironclad naval warfare rules. Will these rules be just for ocean-going vessels or will riverine craft be included? Ifit covers ACW, how will it...

Yesterday I played my first game of "Naval Mania". It is a very good representation of naval combat in the predreadnought era. You can read about it at: chrisminaturewargaming.blogspot.com/2025/06/naal...

Yes, Boxer Rebellion. It's on a 6'x8' table. I've got the Tarter Wall built and a good portion of the buildings (in card stock) done, but still have many more to do (along with the Forbidden City wall). No worries about the Fleet sheets, we had to domore paperwork than that, back in the day (1980's

Great! and thank you. I'm printing some now, in resin, at 1/4800 so I can try the rules out on the dining table. I big gaming table is covered in Peking at the moment.

You can find a lot of models on Thingiverse, but for ships they are mostly WW1 and WW2. I prefer the early ironclad stuff, myself. Which is why I'm wanting to add to the ship library you already have.

I've been a CAD operator and instructor in the civil engineering field for about 40 years, which made the modeling possible. Unfortunately, when I retire this year, I'll lose access to the software. I'll have to start learning Blender then.

Yes I would love to look at the Excel files. I have the Conway's books from 1860 to 1945, Jane's 1898,1906, and 1914, and about 4 Brasseys as PDF, so I can do some cross checking. Though Jane's is probably as skewed as Brasseys.

There will e a zip file or two of the models. What would be the best way to get them to you?

I have designed 119 1/2400 scale ship models based on those found in Brassey's 1887 volume. I would be interested to see how they print on an FDM printer. Would you be interested in printing some or all of them. As they are active ships from 1887, many would be outside the current scope of the game

How is DPR calculated? I assume it only looks at the Main Belt, but what else is involved?

How are WDF and UDF determined?

How is OPR and Gun Ratings determined?

@4ppress.bsky.social

Hello from the middle of nowhere, Colorado! I have just purchased your Naval Mania and Archibald, Certianly Not rules. I've read Naval Mania already and am looking forward to giving it a try. I have some questions about creating new ship profiles. Should I ask them here?
