I wake up every day hoping this current degeneration of democracy is temporary. I think we have a unique opportunity to teach our kids what's worth preserving. As for how to get past the total reality difference between our side and theirs, I don't know. But critical thinking is a top priority.

Right? I feel for them. At the same time, my son had a civics requirement for HS credit, and we took the opportunity to learn all about how the system is supposed to run: checks and balances, actual business of the 3 branches, agencies in the govt, foreign policy, etc. We looked at ideologies too.

I talk about this with my son all the time. He's 21, and has vague recollections of the Obama administration, when we were actually really proud of the way our president handled himself and the world.
