Proud queer, based in Vancouver, BC (unceded Coast Salish territory). My politics are best described as eco-left. I will definitely also be posting about pop culture and urbanism, and will certainly be engaging in general nihilism. They/them, please.

Wouldn't one of the errors be setting an entire season of murders in a small city where only two murders a year ever happen?

This episode alone has at least two homicide victims and one police shootout in a secret cold war bunker. Totally average day in Canada.

Someone gets murdered on TV like twenty times per night, how could this not at least partially explain why so many people think crimes are far more prevalent than they are?

I'm visiting my mother and she's watching all the usual cable TV shows. Literally all of them are crime and/or cop shows. Has anyone studied the impact these shows have on the public misconceptions about crime rates?

Oh good. Hard agree on a) though. I'm on team "welcome to the club, there's plenty of room here". I hope more of us could be so kind.

Wait, isn't b) mandated by the provinces? (That is, the provincial minimum wage applies regardless of immigration status)?

Driving to Niagara in (worse than this photo) was … Ugh. I don't miss this.

But also that's different than the ones I'm seeing? Same font but different style and colours?

Shake Shack makes excellent (veggie) burgers and their shakes are to die for, but why do they have the most boring freezer aisle fries?

YVR has been such a hot mess the last couple of years and I'm really losing patience with it. I get that running an airport is a complex thing but we've been doing this for nearly a century now and we know how to get the planes in and out of the airport.

My flight boarded completely and fully on time, and they closed the boarding door only a few minutes late. And then we sat there. We eventually pushed back like ten minutes late, and have now spent the last 15 minutes in the middle of the tarmac, presumably in the way of everyone else, just waiting.

I didn't want to be weird to the staff by taking a photo but Lee's Donuts has a seasonal doughnut called "Poppy" whose description is simply "Lest We Forget" and it has a red poppy style icing pattern.

I'm confused about when or how "serif" and "sans serif" switched meanings. Like I've seen this a lot, people think serif fonts are fonts without serifs and sans serif fonts are fonts with serifs. Do people just not know what the word sans means?
