As someone who reads Horror professionally now, everyone NEEDS to read @ravineangel.bsky.social's Persona. A colleague described it as reminiscent of J-Horror of the late 90's/early 00's (they're correct). It's bleak and so so scary.

@ceejthemoment.bsky.social's Headlights is a masterpiece. That's it. That's the post.

And before you jump into my replies saying BookCon isn't an event that counts as professional for librarians and educators, it does.

I was told they will not provide pro passes and never did in the past. Which is not true! During the previous iteration of BookCon, they had pro passes and would send comp tickets to libraries for staff!

Feeling vindicated over my skepticism of BookCon. A few months ago, I asked them over social media if they'd be offering Professional Passes for book industry folks (which includes teachers, booksellers, and librarians) and received the SNOTTIEST answer.

Rob Reiner: I'm going to make a coming of age drama, a fantasy adventure story, a romantic comedy, a psychological horror and then a courtroom drama.

Us: Across your entire career?

Reiner: In a 6 year period.

Us: That sounds-

Reiner: -Each one will be arguably the best movie in that genre.

The Courts Just Made Our Libraries Sitting Ducks For AI Plundering The law may call it fair use. But in the age of AI, it’s starting to look like a free lunch. A California federal judge ruled this week that Meta Platforms Inc. did not violate copyright law when i…

If your express bys gets delayed by 20 minutes or more you should be able to challenge the bus driver to a fist fight.

If you're an architect or an architecture firm tasked with designing or redesigning a library, PLEASE TAKE LIBRARY WORKERS INTO CONSIDERATION. Far too many times I've seen libraries with diminished staff spaces, layouts that don't take safety into account, and make things inaccessible.

If the boat is delayed going from Manhattan > SI, the buses leaving from the terminal don’t wait. So for the love of god get off the boat.

When you delay getting off the boat or block entrances to the terminal/subway, you are delaying New Yorkers from getting to work or home. We appreciate you using it to see the Statue, but please keep in mind thousands of people use it everyday.

Had the distinct pleasure of shouting β€œMOVE” to a tourist blocking a clear path to the Staten Island ferry tonight. If you’re visit NYC, and decide to take the SI Ferry, please keep in mind it’s a transportation lifeline for thousands of New Yorkers.

Same! And I think going in knowing nothing is the best way to tackle it! It’s a great book for readers who might be skeptical about the genre!
