During our packing parties, a wide range of items such as condoms, lubricants, emergency contraception, and other essential reproductive health products are carefully packed and prepared for distribution. We are grateful to those who come out every month to provide for our people.

Our volunteers are an essential part of the pipeline that keeps our community resourced.  Their dedication and hard work form the backbone of our efforts, enabling us to provide the necessary services and resources that our community relies upon.

We drove over 700 miles from Birmingham to Chicago to document the reality that Deep Southerners are living every day. This is a reality where abortion access has been forced across state lines due to state-sanctioned reproductive oppression.

Road to Care is a Yellowhammer Fund docu-series that follows the journey Southerners are forced to take for basic healthcare and the community networks that make care possible anyway.

Something is coming.

By strengthening the ties between those most impacted and those in positions to respond, ABEI demonstrates that “The Power of Connection” is not just thematic—it’s the framework through which birth equity becomes achievable and sustainable in the Deep South.

This initiative shows how shared care practices create both healing and accountability.

For ABEI, connection is the intervention. It links community wisdom to clinical care, local networks to statewide systems, and immediate needs to structural change. In Alabama, connection must be built intentionally between doulas and doctors, organizers and clinics, data and lived experience.

YHF is looking for volunteers for the CRJF Pleasure Party! We need people to help with setup and breakdown, to welcome and guide attendees, and to be available for any needs anyone might have.

Birth Justice is both a vision and a practice, where people who give birth are supported by safe, accessible, and culturally appropriate reproductive health care.

2026 may have recently started, but our work never stopped. Our Family Justice Manager has been ensuring that our community members never have to go unresourced or uncared for. Here's to another year of direct service and community care. 💜

We invest in our staff so that they can invest in their communities. For years, YHF has sent its staff to Creating Change to enjoy a mix of day-long institutes, keynotes, and more than 100 workshops and caucuses.

They learned, explored, and made new kinships along the way.
