An alternative summer reading list for the prime minister Some additions and alternatives to this year's NZIER summer reading list.

'It is intelligent, entertaining and unearths many knotty opportunities for critical analysis...' The Spinoff's Claire Mabey recommends that Chris Luxon reads the forthcoming Star Gazers by Duncan Sarkies, and the beloved She's A Killer by Kirsten McDougall

Two senior publishers axed at Penguin Random House amid major restructure New Zealand's largest book publisher has undergone drastic changes this week, leaving its future role in local publishing uncertain.

This is bad news for New Zealand publishing as a whole (though unnecessarily mean about Grace Thomas). It will shrink the number of NZ books published, and weaken the industry as a whole, and Claire is a big loss.
