A compass for the lonely
There is no road
Loneliness isn’t a personal failure.
One in five people in the United States feels lonely “a lot of the day” every day. 30% feel lonely at least once a week for the past year.
Loneliness is structural. Thoughts and an offering that’s helped me keep walking.

The lived truth of impermanence and the disciplined practice of awareness aligns us with a compassionate path whose intention and purpose is the lessening of suffering.
This is observable and actionable. It requires no belief, just commitment and healing.

"Birth parents frequently cite financial hardship as one of their primary reasons for choosing adoption."
This is the part that kills me. I believe that there is no free reproductive choice when the financial coercion of poverty exists.
Excellent article.

ALT: A Way of Transcendence monk sits cross-legged atop a throne of red flesh that unfurls from the unzipped backs of six headless worshipers arranged in a circle underneath them, facing outward, like an organic flower in bloom. The monk is lithe and lean, the top half of their head covered in a flower-like fleshy crown with four staring eyes. Their mouth is visible and smirking. Sleek fleshy armor adorns their torso, shoulders, forearms, and legs in a dark blue color, with exposed organic flesh in a pale white shade. Six small wings unfurl from their back, forming a lotus blossom shape with staring red eyes that point in various directions. Text at the bottom reads: “The Monk. Evolution, immortality, perfection. Maeters.”
As trans creators of color, we’re always on the lookout for cool projects by fellow marginalized artists.
The Black Market Guide to Immortality offers a decadently necromantic setting based on Korean, Chinese, and Japanese mythos — and it’s made by East Asian folks!

When we are courageous, we can do the unexpected
October Calendar and Check-In
"Survival mode" seems contagious these days--somatically, linguistically, interpersonally.
October's theme is courage to find your own middle way. I'll facilitate two gatherings: one where participants define courage in lived practice, another for journaling a spiritual pilgrimage. 🧭⛵

I’m really interested in the idea of primacy.
Why wouldn’t the mini serve as an externalized depiction of an arrested emotional or conceptual state, rigid like its posture?
Fascinating morning thoughts.

IMO one of the most stable things about the DSM is the cottage industries around therapy and "wellness" that diagnoses create.
All while reifying the idea of "diverging" from a normalcy that doesn't exist.
We diagnose and treat individuals too much, systems too little.

Not saying it doesn't exist for individuals.
Am saying systemic factors like standardized education, isolation (e.g. stay at home orders in a historic pandemic), class stratification, chronic stress, can lead to "on the spectrum" symptomologies.

We'd briefly re-convene at the end to check-out and name what they worked on...planting seeds for the next month.
I'm gauging interest before committing to the logistics. Does this idea resonate with people?

You could join as an individual or with people you already know.
Folks who join as individuals could chat together about the them, following a suggested agenda (like completing a "needs" worksheet and sharing).
Groups could use the space for their pod building and maintenance.

If nothing else, it could be an accountability space.
I'm thinking we'd begin with ~15 minutes together (opening meditation and a suggested theme or activity like creating a "needs" list), then participants would spend the remaining 60 minutes in self-directed breakout discussions.

Hi all! Following up on today's post, I'm thinking of launching monthly pod discussions. This space would be donation-based and participant-led.
I'm envisioning 75-minute sessions building on SOIL's "greenhouse" model discussed in the piece.

It's not the greatest place on earth.
Pods are relationships built to serve the people within them.
At the recent SOIL greenhouse, a container to discuss and maintain pod-building, my breakout room discussed Spanish-language learning, weightlifting, news, and emotional support pods.
Honest communication can make [a lot] happen.
