BREAKING: Jakarta has banned the commercial trade, slaughter and sale of dogs and cats for meat after years of advocacy.

This is a major step toward ending Indonesia’s dog and cat meat tradeβ€”and we’re so grateful to all of our supporters who stood by our side!

@bcdreyer.social substack is fighting off permiting my response, but did La Baker ever impinge your side of the Ditch? My assumption is no. Pre-TV, I doubt that she'd have made it down to london.

I was. Feb-Mar. '73. And all were real, insofar as they came through the letterbox and were penned by readers. Whether the tales: 'I want to tell you about my landlady, her 14 y.o. daughter and their Alsatian dog' (13 sheets foolscap, typed single-space both sides) were as well...who knew?

And nor should it. Farage is a dangerous racist and yet is being fast tracked into No.10 on a ruinous populist agenda, funded by shady right wing money and malign foreign interests.
People must know who and what they are voting for. That’s the very lowest bar in a democracy.

I, for obvious reasons, would not be slightly surprised. They fuck up, you tell them. You can pretend to good humour, possibly the best path. But not if the same source persists. Hey-ho. As in so much else, I blame my mother. But I revel in it. Like the job I do, it keeps me on the margins.

If you mean the links, these are to my dictionary. Each citation has a small flag which indicates the country of origin. As you suggest 'jack tar' (like 'tarpaulin' its almost wholly UK root) is primarily UK, but I do find US uses from mid-19C.

Add a little eau de vie de framboise to your Campari-soda and enhance them both. Would theoretically be pinker too, but for the eau de vie resisting its raspberry base and remaining steadfastly crystalline.
