The church a few blocks from my house has a sign that shows a different inspirational message every week. The current one: WHOEVER IS PRAYING FOR SNOW PLEASE STOP.

But his father’s father was expelled from Germany for evading the draft in Bavaria, so he came here. I didn’t know there was a gene for that.

This is a pretty grim comparison, but it has the ring of truth.

I’m in NY, but I have two kids on the left coast (Palo Alto and Portland), so I pay a lot of attention to the Cascadia subduction zone. I’ve read the New Yorker article (“The Really Big One”) several times and will read “Cascadia’s Fault” next. Oy vey.

If they use anyone’s power and poison anyone’s water, that’s not OK.

Neither construction creates many jobs.

So far they’re not constructing, as far as I know — just buying old warehouses. They’re planning to store humans in them.

Nobody wants big data centers in their neighborhood. Nobody wants concentration camps in their neighborhood, either. What’s a big resource-sucking company to do??

We need someone with an advanced degree in unscrambling omelets and putting toothpaste back in tubes.
