It's The Archers, this plot point will eventually be discussed obliquely in 6 months' time by two minor characters and it will be the most dramatic plot twist in Ambridge in years

09.03.2026 21:51 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0No, the Market is just a natural phenomenon, you see. Completely beyond the control of man
09.03.2026 16:31 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I agree about that, but I expected it to be a far more personal thing e.g. he was going to put Ake and Mir into a position where he they get to save his mom, but at the cost of giving and the VR a valuable trade corridor or world or something. It's big and ambitious without being Federation-ending
09.03.2026 10:13 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Generally like it, but there are definitely areas to improve. Not a big fan of the sudden turn in episode 9 into Big Stakes. All season, the drama has been on small, interpersonal issues and suddenly you're throwing in a Federation-threatening stake in the penultimate episode?

Yeah, but it wasn't such a risk for the Athena, Galactica was dropping like a stone and if they didn't jump in time they would have crashed into the ground.
The Athena can hover and land if she needs to. In fact, she spends most of her time planetside.
Amazing day yesterday, having doorknocked a quarter of the ward and delivered literature to even more.
Shattered today, though!
Oh no! A crash with a car! It's amazing what cars are capable of doing with absolutely no input from a human these days...

In 60 days, the UK will head to the polls.
No, it's not a General Election.
It's the Local Elections including the Scottish and Welsh elections.
Hereβs what you can do to help get Greens elected:
1) Join @greenparty.org.uk or @scottishgreens.org
2) get involved
Helping lead an action day in Birmingham!

London isn't the only place where Greens are putting in a good effort. Today in Birmingham, we knocked on more than 2,000 doors, delivered thousands of leaflets.

Liar. Transphobe.
Yup, should fit in well with the current Labour Party
For me it goes:
1 - Lower Decks
2 - Prodigy
3* - Discovery
3* - Starfleet Academy
4 - SNW (Season 1 would have been at #2, S2 dragged it down and S3 almost buried it)
5 - Picard (Enjoyed half of S1 and S3, but S2 was so bad that it tainted the rest of it!
I would have preferred Star Trek: New Character Who Hasn't Already Completed Satisfying Character Arcs.

I think the 10th planet costumes and voices were the best of the classic era. There were times in the Troughton stories where I struggled to make our what they were saying and post-Troughton they became far too human in their voice and mannerisms.
06.03.2026 10:15 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Of course! My mistake! I forgot they were a First Doctor villain first. In fact, I think the gif I posted was from the 10th planet. In the Moon Base, they're in the silver costumes (similar to this one, but I *think* this clip is from Tomb of...?)

Maybe if the Vernari Ral had access to spore drive technology.
By 'significant chunk' I mean multiple star systems. By the end of Discovery they were back to more than 60 worlds and we know that others (like Betazed) had rejoined since.
Setting up a minefield around a section of space of more than 60 star systems, even if each mine has a radius of...
You talk about how the plan wouldn't have worked in earlier centuries - to be honest, I find it stretches credulity to have worked now. The Federation might be smaller, but it still occupies a significant chunk of the galaxy. A case of this old trope, I think:

Doctor Who also had weather- controlling machines on the moon. It was the first appearance of the Cybermen
05.03.2026 22:21 β π 7 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0There is a theory that because they live so slowly, slugs and snails experience the world in fast-motion. I imagine if trees had our senses, the world would pass by in a blur, filled with indistinct smears of colour flashing by as the forests disappeared and great strange rectangular trees sprouted.
05.03.2026 19:59 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Something is happening in Birmingham Green Party! More than 100 people came to our campaign launch for the local elections in May! We have about 80 people signed up for an Action day in just one ward on Saturday It's amazing to see the party grow so quickly! www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/2026-start...

This evening, Birmingham Green Party filled out a venue that we would have been dwarfed by this time last year. Our next Action Day on Saturday has over 70 people signed up when last year we'd have been thrilled with 17.
There is a powerful momentum in the Greens right now I haven't seen in years.
I still hear the Ballad of the Wind Fish and the Animal Village theme in my sleep

04.03.2026 17:15 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I used to like Shad, his 'what weapons would fantasy races use' series was a lot of fun, then he went off the deep end into right wing rants, AI-evangelism and petty squabbles with apparently decent people
