A sad day for many generations to come. To be a true poet is to become god - followed by expletives. Will never not make me
Laugh.

Dave Goodman (guest on the next show coming Thursday) has decided to torture me with an incredibly long and complicated book. While I thought I had the capacity to enjoy any and all sci-fi, this one is a struggle.
@davegoodman.bsky.social why did you pick Excession for the bookclub?
ππ
Currently reading sci fi classic Excession by Ian M banks and I definitely feel I could do with an expurgated versionβ¦
ππ
Though I havenβt read them (book wife loves them) I have been told that it is worth sticking with the sequels as they really explain the perspective shifts nicely. We did a episode on this book if ever :^ )

4. Iβve read a few far-far future dystopian SF/fantasy novels lately, even tho itβs not a favorite subgenre. But Jemisinβs vision of feared born earth manipulators & deadly weather events is fascinating. I had trouble keeping the POV characters straight, but thereβs a good reason for that. #booksky

29.01.2026 10:49 β π 3 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0Absolutely. But the number of people around where I live who donβt drink the pristine tap water we get completely baffles me!

Only a Brit could write a romance novel completely devoid of affection!
I guess it goes part and parcel with the βolβ stiff upper lip wot wot?β Attitude that a gentleman should not show any affection
I also canβt imagine the adaptation of Remains of the day could possibly catch the subtelties
ππ
Cover of the novel Remains of the day by Kazuo Ishiguro. A bright yellow border surrounds an oranger frame containing the silhouette of a person in a fine bowler hat of some kind. Kazuo Ishiguro and Remains of the day are written in large but inviting font Beneath and above it.
Itβs recording day!
So far we have read sci-fi, horror, thrillers, and fantasy and yet Remains of the Day is the novel that has baffled me the most.
I cannot wait to hear what @bingewriting.bsky.social has to say about it because it feels illegal to tell so little plot with so many words!
