rent has gone up, electricity bills have gone up, groceries have gone up, health insurance has gone up, heating oil has gone up, etc

we can still afford recreational activities, so once again i'm not complaining, but it's frustrating because the standard of living should be going up, not down

and we were spending a WHOLE lot more back then, taking more expensive holidays, ordering food at least twice a week (vs at most once a month now), and me spending at least 100 bucks per week going out. So it's annoying because we're making efforts to be more frugal, but without any results.

I'm not the worst off by any means, but it's depressing to see how much my financial situation has deteriorated in recent years. My wife and I's income has stayed relatively stable over the last 5 years but we end up in the red most months while we were able to set aside 10% of our salaries in 2020
