I've been thinking about Kawaki a lot lately because of your fic, and I think if he manages to pull through, it will only be with Sumire's help. He keeps Hima at five arms' length, and Sarada is too Boruto-oriented. And I'm genuinely looking forward to him getting involved with Sumire, story-wise.

You never know, Ikemoto does tend to surprise us. Though it's starting to sound a bit like that war sci-fi fic Clueless wrote.

He seems opposed to Koji's ways for now. I don't think it's impossible, though I imagine someone important would have to die for him to slip into the darkness. Sarada maybe? The more time passes, the more I'm starting to think she's somehow destined to die in all versions of the future.

Very bad chibi art of Kawaki choking Amado while telling him he's never going to revive his daughter or dead pet hamster or favorite lighter. Kawaki is concerned when he hears the door open. Smiling, Sumire blasts him in the face with Nue Spray, saying, "BAD KAWAKI! DROP IT!" Kawaki winces and cusses.

In one of my favorite books as a teen, the main guy has darkness tied to his soul, and once he loses control of it, the main girl stabs him with a flaming angel sword, with the intention to kill him, even though they're lovers, but it turns out that the sword merely kills the darkness. Sooo 👀👀👀

Everything will be better once Sarada starts yelling at Boruto again.

Yes! With the manga treating romantic love as one of the themes, Boruto simply has to show some agency on the romantic front. Or it'll all fall flat 😭
