So while Bleach and Solo Leveling are not Because the other Realms are apart of the same world. Gate is because it was magic that broke the veil into the universe, just like how in other isekai you'd be summoned in like Shield Hero or No Longer Allowed in another World.

The Way I interpret Isekai is either being Transported into another world that isn't your own. Be it Trapped or Reincarnated into it. SAO S1 while your body is still in the real world your consciousness isn't and you are trapped in said world. Same with Overlord and parts of Digimon, .Hack, etc.

Inuyasha, Yes. Bleach, No. It's just a weird grey area, there's a reason alot of people early on complained about the Genre being called Isekai lol.

But with SAO after S1 it's just a gaming anime. Digimon is an isekai tho later they have free travel between the two. Gate is, Solo Leveling isn't because it's apart of their world, Sun Jinwoo being an outlier because his power.

That's why I say yes and no, Isekai is just "Another World" so technically Gate would be an Isekai, but the Isekai genre has become more of trapped/reincarnated in. If we are going on traditional meaning, Gate and other anime like it would be yes. If we go off the sub genre they wouldn't be.

Besides y'know the usual escapism and power fantasy they have become. SAO 1st Season is an Isekai the rest not so much because they can leave the world whenever, I also take back Shangri-La being an isekai, since it is just a gaming anime I was wrong on that one.

Technically yes, but also no, Isekai is more of being trapped in said world permanately or until you finish a task to be sent back, Solo Leveling isn't an Isekai because they can leave said dungeons(except a few outliers) at any time and are more apart of their world, Gate is in a grey area but same

Ok I need a question answered, Is SAO an isekai anime? I always thought it wasn't as he's still alive in the real world....or am I crazy?

Most Isekai now never end and you don't see the person go back to the real world/they died and are giving a new lease on life in this new world so they can't go back. Digimon is an Isekai, .Hack is an Isekai, hell even Shangri-La Frontier is one.

It is with the literal sense of the word, not what the genre has become. It just means "other world" you don't have to reincarnate into it to be an isekai. Think of it more like this, they were transfered into another world via mind, and were transfered back via finishing the quest/plot.
