Finished The Reformatory a few nights ago and Iβm still thinking about it.
When I say that Ms. Due ate. Not a single crumb remained. One of the best books Iβve read in a long time.
I need people to talk about this book with pls go read it

So many notifications today, hello new friends!
I only pop in about once a month, but I usually bring book recommendations or PSAs about how great plants, libraries and pastries are.
Nice to meet you all βΊοΈ
Good q, The minoxidil should go directly on your scalp! It needs to absorb into it to work. Also any skin the minoxidil touches can start growing hair so Iβm careful to keep it off my face and wash my hands well after applying.

Nw! I used to get a prescription from my derm, but just switched over to Hims. The packaging is needlessly gendered but the dropper is good!
I only do it once a day at night and that has worked great. I also try to make sure any leave ins donβt touch my scalp just in case.
So type 4 coily gal here. I feel you on the LC hair loss. 5% minoxidil works for me. I use the solution with the dropper for more precision.
Also I use head and shoulders shampoo bc dandruff can induce hair loss. Iβve heard head massages to increase blood flow to follicules but havenβt tried.
I think I have finally fought back spider mites on a plant for the first time. I think Iβve gone through the whole Heroβs Journey in the process π₯²π₯²

What a heartwarming way to round out the year! I can hardly believeβSoul Foodβ shares a list with all these stellar SFF and Horror stories.
I know Iβm going to devour the rest of the works on this list too :β)
By βtomorrowβ I mean October 25th. For those of you who are out there drinking water, applying sunscreen, or otherwise not chronically online π₯²

Hey, you!
Yes, you.
Deadline for registering to vote in NYC is tomorrow. If youβre eligible make your voice heard!
Itβs that time again. Here are 2 pieces that have stuck with me over the past few months!
The Repeat Room by Jesse Ball. Grim and uncomfortable and a delight to read.
Whale Fall of Yours by M. M. Olivas. The kind of piece you have to stop and sit with after youβve finished. Whew.
If you could summon the Crossroads Man, what might you make a deal for? What might you be willing to lose?
My short story βSoul Foodβ is out in FIYAH today along with so many other incredible pieces. You can check it out here :β)
Iβve been lucky enough to workshop this piece! Itβs got such a gorgeous lush world and the tension between Vesper and Ireika?

That feeling when you lend someone a book and they come back and ask if you have the sequel???
Unparalleled.
A few more books joined my βwriting goalsβ shelf in the first half of this year:
Kaikeyi by Vishnavi Patel.
I love a complex woman character. Unabashed anger? Battering down double standards?? Gimme.
How High We Go In The Dark by Sequoia Nagamatsu.
1 word. P r o s e.
π Since 2022, the @BrooklynPublicLibrary has offered free eCards to teens nationwide facing book bans in their local communities! βπΎβ¨
π Parable of the Sower by @OctaviaEButler
π The Hate U Give by @angiethomas
π Gender Queer by @MaiaKobabe
π All Boys Arenβt Blue by @GeorgeMJohnson
So I just started listening to Writerβs Routine. And I cannot believe that the Anthony Horowitz of my beloved Magpie Murders is the SAME Anthony Horowitz that wrote the Alex Rider series.
Talk about a callback!!
Yes! And itβs entirely available on YouTube for folks not in the UK. Improving sick days for folks around the world :β)

One aspect of being chronically ill is I know, indisputably, what the best sick at home show is.
Taskmaster.
It is funny. It requires 2 brain cells max. You can pass out and wake up and not feel youβve missed a thing.
Decided to learn how to sew.
Iβm definitely not picking up another hobby to purchase all the supplies for and abandon in 3 months.
But I am enjoying picking out several patterns and pinning fabric stores and ooooh notions!
Listen closely. Hannah is one of the most talented writers ever. And I mean ever. Go read all her stuff, she has linked to a lot of beautiful work on her profile. Itβs the best thing youβll do with your day!
(Also give her more awards theyβre so well deserved!!)
I want super flowery speculative fiction. Give me the most vivid violet prose but with magic and time travel.
Apparently some of these books are hiding in the Fiction TM genre but how do I tell them apart? Just read every back copy from a-z?
Honestly every time I hear this rendition I think about The Read podcast. Whew quality content.

I know writing a novel is a rollercoaster of emotion but what if it was just nice and flat?
I have an idea βI wrote the ideaβ I didnβt cry about the complexity of the ideaβI finished the idea
Just. So nice. So flat.
I just downloaded the Bookshop.org app!! Excited to try out e reader alternatives to the Big Online Store
