The Maryland Mesonet partnership builds and maintains a system of hyper-local weather stations capable of real-time monitoring across the State.

Maryland Mesonet (a partnership between @univofmaryland.bsky.social - Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Science and MDEM) is reporting snow totals across the state with the highest in Berlin, MD (Worcester County) at 22.2 inches!

Snow is coming, Maryland! Parts of the eastern shore are now under a blizzard warning, with the rest of the state under either a winter storm warning or watch. Get prepared now and make sure that you are stocked up on any essentials. (And try not to eat all of your snow snacks)

🥶 Don’t Get Caught Outside - Know The Signs of Hypothermia 🧣

Hypothermia signs include uncontrollable shivering, confusion, slurred speech, fumbling hands, and extreme fatigue. Immediate, life-saving, emergency care is required when these symptoms appear.

⚠️ Frostbite in ~30 mins. Snow/ice may impact travel.
Limit time outdoors, drive carefully, use heat safely, and check on neighbors.

Extreme Cold Warnings for western MD mountains, Baltimore/DC metros, & lower/Eastern Shore. Cold Weather Advisories for the rest of the state. This will be a particularly unusual and highly impactful event. Prolonged period (24+ hours) of sub-zero wind chills and gusty winds. Lingering snow/ice on the ground could hamper clean-up/repair efforts. Strong winds could lead to power outages. Dress in layers, keep pets indoors as much as possible, and make frequent checks on older family, friends and neighbors.

Coldest Air This Winter Season late tonight into Sunday morning. Widespread sub-zero zero wind chills across most of the area late tonight into Sunday morning. Frostbite/hypothermia likely to occur in 30 minutes or less.

Wind chills of 20 to 30 below zero are expected over the mountains with -5 to -15 below wind chills cross the Baltimore/DC metro areas.

Winds rapidly increase from west to east behind cold front between 1AM and 7AM tonight into Saturday morning. Strong winds continue through Saturday afternoon and evening.

Dangerously cold temps arrive tonight through Sunday, with Sat (Feb. 7) the worst. Daytime highs in the 20s, teens & single digits overnight, with wind chills even colder.
