Improved auto-generated accessibility text on the web for new posts to fill in the photo alt text by default when clicking the photo thumbnail, skipping the extra copy/paste step. There’s a new text box to edit the text directly.

New plug-in “Photos with months” adds section headers to group photos by year and month instead of altogether in a flat grid. Give it a try if you have lots of photos.

Fixed cross-posting services not getting remembered when unchecking them.

Updated Micro.blog for macOS to version 3.6.4, fixing auto-generated accessibility text and related problems managing photos.

Fixed automatically generating accessibility descriptions for photos. This stopped working correctly recently. Sorry about the trouble!

There’s an update to the Mac app out. This sets things up for improvements to photo resolution for Micro.blog Premium, which we’ll blog about in more detail later.

Fixed a problem with replies on your blog’s web form not showing up in the Mentions tab.

Updated the Mac app with a few fixes, especially for macOS 26 Tahoe.

We’ve finished restoring the recent missing photos that were not loading during the photo storage outage. We aren’t aware of any photos that were lost, but if you see anything that looks wrong, reach out to help@micro.blog. In rare cases a photo from earlier today might need to be re-uploaded.

An update on photo storage downtime: there is still an outage at one of our server providers, Linode. While we try to store multiple copies of photos at different providers, this outage has really degraded serving photos, especially smaller versions that are used in the timeline.

There is an issue with one of our data center hosting providers, leading to errors with some photos. We are monitoring the situation and I hope it is resolved soon. Thanks for your patience.

There were some slow responses and potential errors for a short time today. Very sorry about that. Micro.blog should be fast again.

Fixed compatibility with some ActivityPub servers including Friendica.

Fixed deleting and renaming uploads on the web to properly update URLs for other sizes of photos.

Fixed an issue with HEIC photo uploads not getting processed correctly or ending up the wrong size, for about an hour today. Most photos are sent as JPEGs, so I don’t think this affected anyone. If anything looks wrong with your photos, please let us know.

Fixed link-style posts wrapping oddly in the timeline before the linked domain name.

If you tried the new “Archive with months” plug-in, we continue to tweak it, including a fix today for blog post summaries that include markup.

Fixed an issue muting some words and phrases, such as Mastodon hashtags. You can manage your muted users and keywords under Account → Edit Muted and Blocked Users.

Fixed an issue loading .mov video uploads for our European-based servers and CDN.
