Yep, like you won't see me touching tiktok ever in my life, but I know bullying there can be so nasty and easier for the way the platform works, same with twt, so at the end more than people being worse, it's a mix of parents not being the best +

Kinf of expected, I used to play a game called "the train", which was basically running in socks in circles holding our hands inside the classroom to see who would fall fisrt (15yo, girls school xD).

Now, the real problem is when there's also 30+yo people acting LIKE THAT in fandom xDD

Now, what I think happens more nowadays is that having more online spaces for fandoms, like not only dedicated forums but whole socials media, kind of help the nasty side and the bullying to grow up easier and be more notorious :<

but it's nothing new tho or related to being obsessed (actually, when you're really obsessed you don't want it to fall into antis and stuff, because honestly it turns fandom into a pretty uncomfortable experience. In my case, at least)

I must agree with misi. Even more than 10 years ago I was leaving fandoms entirely because they grew up so much it became a cesspool of nasty people. Nowadays nasty people might be more obvious in the sense that we have more socials and stuff to be aware of it,+
