This is hands-down the best thing Iโ€™ve read on Epsteinโ€˜s worldview and those of his fellow tech, finance, and academic elite. Itโ€™s a rough read, but at least every paragraph is a banger. ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ˜ญ

Reminder that Francesca Albanese is not being targeted for a sentence twisted and lifted out of context in a speech.

She is being targeted for daring to name the names of giant companies complicit in the crime of genocide.

They would rather destroy international law than be accountable to it.

The newly Albo govt-approved Middlemount Coal Mine is jointly owned by Peabody & Yancoal

Not to be confused with Glencore's Hail Creek Coal Mine which is also applying for an extension, & that will also kill koalas (probably more, ๐Ÿ‘€ next post)

There're 42 Coal mines in the pipeline

Why I donโ€™t use generative AI

1. Itโ€™s based on stolen materials and I am not a plagiarist.
2. I do not want to outsource thinking to a machine. Thinking (which includes research, writing, editing) is a skill and will atrophy without use. Why would I inflict that upon myself willingly?
3. Thinking is a pleasure and privilege, and not worth giving up for marginal or nonexistent productivity gains.
4. My voice makes me who I am as a writer and person. Why would I want to substitute that with a generic, pale imitation that sounds like it could be anyone, or no one?
5. Itโ€™s not trustworthy. It will hallucinate. It might be biased in ways I canโ€™t identify. Checking AI output is more work than just doing it yourself in the first place.
6. I wouldnโ€™t want to become dependent on a tool that WILL become more expensive, either by capitalizing on my eyeballs through advertising or skyrocketing subscription costs. They are operating on the Uber model, and I donโ€™t trust it.
7. Using AI for companionship or conversation has never appealed to me, but even if it did, it is a poor and feeble substitute for human connection. I donโ€™t want to go down the crazy-making rabbit hole.
8. Nothing AI generates can be art. Making art is a pleasure and privilege. If you are not inclined to learn or practice art but you still want to possess art, pay an artist.
9. Environmental/energy reasons.
10. Slop sucks.

Nothing says cohesion like a punch in the head: Violence of Minns' goons exposes the lie of 'social cohesion' NSW Police's actions against protesters in in Sydney was about the powerful dictating the terms of free speech โ€” through state-sanctioned violence if necessary.

"Social cohesion is a scam, a strategy employed by the powerful to delegitimise and suppress the voices of the less powerful... If you are othered by powerful groups, you become the victim of cohesion, not the beneficiary; what you get from social cohesion is a punch from an armed official."

ICE is currently holding around 80,000 detainees. Nazi Germany didn't reach this number in its formal camp system until 1942, nine years after seizing power and three years into the war.

You might be wondering why I talk so much about tourism and aviation growth. It is an example of three problems overlapping: inequality, increasing pollution and deregulation.

The aviation industry is reliant on state support and preferential tax treatment. Politicians at all levels want growth.

"all of which has driven mass political disillusionment and anger. The basic truth is this. Our economic system fell apart in 2008. In the absence of a credible alternative, politics is defined by instability and an emboldened far right ...."

We cannot ignore what we can see with our own eyes.

This was state violence.

And the blame lies with the NSW Labor government for attempting to shut down legitimate protest, and the federal Labor government who invited the head of a state committing genocide to our shores.
