After starting his first season strongly, he missed the middle section of the campaign after surgery on an ankle injury, but returned after the COVID-19-postponement period to finish with 15 appearances in his debut campaign. Capable of playing across the back row, and covering lock, Hanro has featured in the 6,7, and 8 shirt for the club, while also appearing in the second row when required. Hanro was vice-captain of the squad during the PREM-winning 21/22 season and promoted to captain the next season, replacing Ellis Genge. He made his 100th appearance for the club in February 2024 and, to date, has started in 95% of his 132 outings for Leicester Tigers.

I’m very sorry to hear Hanro Liebenburg is leaving Leicester Tigers.
He’s been a fabulous player for the club, always leading by example, a superb back row talent even covering lock & very often the driving force of the team on the pitch.
